@CupQuakeWalk: @locavore_mama: @Running Elley: thanks mamas. I seriously never ran so fast as I did when I ran him to the sink to run his arm under water!

The doctor said it didn't look too bad today, she gave us a cream that will help it heal and prevent scarring. It doesn't seem to be bothering him at all, which is good. I am implementing a new house rule that there are to be no hot beverages in the same room as LO though! It could have been so so much worse, so we are really lucky.

@CupQuakeWalk: Ohhhhh definitely! That's a given ;)

My E also has a fascination with tea/coffee cups. It doesn't help that FIL loves to let him stir his coffee when we're out to breakfast with him. Now whenever he sees a hot beverage he feels like stirring it is his duty. Sigh.

oh no!!! M burned her hand briefly a few months back by touching the oven. I turned for one second! I was SO scared!!! :( Now she knows to stay very far away from the oven when the door is opened!

Hope he is feeling better this am.

@Running Elley: lol, can we join too?
E's favorite thing is to snoop around our tea cups and coffee mugs. I thank goodness he hasn't yet managed to burn himself too.
Give L lots of kisses from me!! I'm so sorry:( for what it's worth: let's thank goodness this is fixable and he won't remember it. Sometimes I think it's scared the mama more than the baby. Fx the doctor gives you something tomorrow that'll keep it from blistering.

@Adira: thanks I will! His arm looked ok this morning...I'm pretty sure it is a 2nd degree burn bc it looked like a blister had popped bc the gauze had stuck to his arm :( But he seems to be acting himself which is good! And the burn is smaller than I remember from last night--maybe an inch max. Will update later!

@hilsy85: My husband is the same way. He thinks I'm overreacting every time I call the pediatrician hot line, but I think it's better to be safe than sorry! Plus I know that I won't stop worrying until I hear a nurse tell me to relax! So if you're concerned and think it might keep you up tonight, I'd just give them a call, but I'm sure they'll tell you to just bring him in tomorrow to your appointment and have your pediatrician look at it and that you don't need to do anything in the meantime!

Poor baby!

Chloe got one when she was younger. She stuck her finger in my mashed potatoes and got burnt. She had a huge blister!

I called our ped & they called in a prescription for sulfa. It is a cream that we had to generously apply to the blister, then cover with gauze and medical tape. Not the easiest thing to do to my 7 month old, but it healed the burn, the blister went away and she doesn't have a scar.

I personally wouldn't run to the er, but we also have a call line available 24/7. Can you call the ped first to see what you should do?

@Adira: thanks! They do have an on call doctor who will call you back...DH just thinks I'm insane for wanting call, especially since he's sleeping now so it's not like I'm going to wake him up or anything.

Pretty much what @Adira: said! My pedi has a hotline that connects to a pediatric RN at the hospital they're associated with, and they answer the phone 24/7. I'd probably call just for some peace of mind.

I would definitively bring him in tomorrow but doubt you need to rush to the ER.

If you have breastmilk I would put some on there. Maybe dampen a paper towel with milk and wrap the arm for a bit. That stuff is magic.

Awww, poor baby!!! I haven't had this yet, so I don't really have a good answer for you, but my instincts would say that you probably don't need to do anything additional at the moment, especially since you're seeing the pediatrician tomorrow. Does your pediatrician's office have an on-call nurse? I guess you could always call them and see if they say anything different. But I would think waiting until tomorrow is fine.

Hope he feels better soon!!!

LO was sitting at the table with DH and pulled his cup of tea over and burned his arm :( I immediately ran it under cold water and he calmed down a few minutes later after I nursed him. His arm just seemed red but then when I undressed him later for his bath I saw that it looked like there had been a blister (there was some skin that looked like it had peeled, like when you get a sunburn).

Reading Dr Google is freaking me out, as it says you should take your child to the hospital/call 911 if they get a 2nd degree burn (which maybe this is because there was skin peeling?). Has anyone ever dealt with a burn before? We have a pedi appt tomorrow anyway, thnk goodness...I don't need to call the dr now right? He's sleeping now, we gave him motrin before bed and put a gauze pad on the area.
