You can also try capping her last nap to 45 mins or 1 hr.

Nothing to do with daylight savings time, but that was about the age that we were dealing with super early bedtimes (asleep by 6:15) and correspondingly early mornings (up for the day at 5:30), so I'd tend to agree that you'll need to move the whole day back to move bedtime back.

@Meridian: I say try it. If his last nap ends at 6 and he isn't going down for the night until 9:30, maybe he is ready to have that last awake time to be longer. Maybe don't drop the nap but start the day earlier so that the last arrange time is longer, and then put him to bed earlier.

@Mrs. Champagne: Hrmm, I thought babies usually drop the 3rd nap closer to 6 months and up? His last nap is 4:45 - 6PMish. He still doesn't comfortably stay awake longer than 90 mins - 2 hrs, so right now we're still at 3 naps. Otherwise his last wake period would be too long.

If we dropped the 3rd nap, his 2nd nap would end around 3PM, and pretty sure he would not be able to do bedtime at 5 or 6PM.

Maybe he's ready to drop a nap? What time is his last nap of the day?

We've always had to make those changes slowly. 15 minutes early to bed for a few days, then half an hour for a few days, then 45, and so on until you get the bedtime you want.
Daylight savings always takes a week of adjustment.

R is 2 but we are going through this. She isn't going to bed till 830/845. Before it was 745/800. She is still waking up at 615-645. She is so tired and cranky. We have tried putting her down early and later and nothing helps.

@Anagram: Oh man!! I was actually relieved because the rest of our day was unaffected! Ideally I like to get him up around 7:30 or 8AM... I would hate to move that to 6:30/7AM. Sigh...

I think you have to move his whole day up an hour. Wake him an hour earlier, naps an hour earlier, etc.

Now that our LO is in daycare and they keep to a certain schedule right after time changes, it helps our LO adjust faster.

Ugh, we still haven't been able to recover from spring forward! LO (21 weeks/16 weeks adjusted) was previously falling asleep at 8:30PM, which wasn't so bad. Now, no matter what time we put him down in his crib (8PM, 8:30PM) he'll still fuss -> cry -> CRY -> fuss for sometimes over an hour, depending on when we put him down, until close to 9:30PM. Or last night, he was asleep from 8:15 - 8:45 (we thought we were in the clear!!), and then fussed/cried from 8:45 - 9:35.

So we go in every 15 mins to soothe him and replace his paci (we tried sleep training w/extinction for 12 nights with no success and had to stop this past Sunday night. Of course, that coincided with spring forward...)

I've had to push back bedtime recently to 8/8:30 because I know he won't fall asleep until 9:30. Before spring forward, we were trying to get him in the crib closer to 7:30/8.

It's been 4 nights already with no change... anyone know how to adjust his actual FALL ASLEEP time?!
