@Mrsbells: That makes it hard! Maisie is sleeping next to me on her side right now. It's probably about 80 degrees, so I couldn't very well swaddle right now!

Both my kids would prefer to sleep on their tummies, but it's such a non-negotiable to us. We just swaddled up (even though Lala would scream when we did it). It works well enough to allow them to sleep, and I'd wager to say Maisie even likes it.

my lo hated sleepin on her back and was able to roll herself from back to front before she was a month old. She also was able to lift her head really good since day one so I just let her sleep how she wanted. She is now 3 and still sleepin on her belly lol.

We are having the same problem with my 2.5 week old. We just in the past 3 nights started letting her sleep in her bouncy seat which is inclined and she has sept so much better! I know it's not a forever solution, but we certainly have a baby that is sleeping much better for now!

Do you have Rock 'n Play? Some women in my due date group had a lot of success with it for babies who had reflux or who just didn't like to sleep on their backs.

@LivsMama: Yes I will talk to the doctor again, because LO hates being swaddled.
@Mrs. Stroller: Yes, we have tried that, and she just wont sleep on her back at all

Have you tried putting her on her back but turning her head entirely to one side? If it does work, make sure to alternate sides so she doesn't develop a flat spot on one side over the other.

At 3 weeks, she probably can turn her head from side to side. Problem is, at that age, they do it out of reflex and maybe comfort, but not need. So she could be re-breathing carbon dioxide and knot know she needs to turn her head, which can cause suffocation. Liv was unhappy on her back, but swaddling her really helped. She didnt sleep on her belly until about 6 months when she was rolling there on her own and we couldnt stop her. Our doctor was pretty adamant about it .Id talk to your pedi again to see what they say

Mine didn't, but I do have a friend who's LO had to sleep on his belly because of really bad reflux. The doctor encouraged it for them.

Everyone keeps telling me that the safest position for my baby to sleep is on her back or side. But she doesnt like sleeping on her back or side unless someone is holding her she likes sleeping on her belly.
My pedi told me to only let her sleep on her belly when I'm supervising her since there is a risk of suffocation but while watching her I've noticed that she is able to turn her head from left to right and lift her head high off the mattress. she is 3 weeks old + 3 days.
Did any of your LOs always want to sleep on their belly?
