Haha! LO did that. The grass freaked her out. And then the snow freaked her out. It will pass.

@autumnlove: We are thinking of TTC LO#2 soon, so I was hoping I wouldnt have to carry LO#1 so much.

It sounds like it isnt uncommon, and I just need to be patient.

LO 1 started walking at 15 months but refused to walk when we were out and about until 20ish months. (She was ok at daycare, home and grandma's house.) LO 2 was born when she was 16 months so it was a few months of frustration for me...pushing a stroller and holding a toddler for the shortest errands. She resisted more when I tried to motivate her so my advice is to just let it be for now and she will do it when she is ready.

@BabyBySurpise: How long did it take your LO to walk outside?

@oliviaoblivia: Did you do anything to help you LO start walking outside? Practice? Since its cold outside now, we just go out to run errands, and thats about it. There aren't many places for her to practice walking outside the house.

My little one was like this for a bit. She started walking in the spring. The first time we put her down in the grass at the park she was shaking and wouldn't move. She grew out of it tho and now has no issues outside. I think the outside is just so vast I can be frightening. Also the grass is uneven so I think balancing as a new walker can be a challenge.

DD1 was like that. Walked exclusively at home at ten months but not out of the house or familiar places until 11.5 months. I think it was a comfort thing.

My 14 month old started walking at 13 months. We got her shoes so we can take her outside to play. Whenever we are out of the house, she refuses to walk at all. When we are inside the house, or she is at daycare, she is zooming away. I know she can do it because she's taken steps outside, but she just does not want to. Is this normal, and when does it end? Am I supposed to be doing something to help her walk when we are outside of the house?

She's fully walking, so I don't know why she wants to be carried whenever we are out. I thought once they started walking, it would be hard to stop them.
