Mostly when she was tired or bored. It drove me CRAZY. Ugh. Thankfully, she seems to be over it. And, other Moms that I know had babies that age that did it, too. (He is now about 20 months)</p> <p>It goes... we put food in front of him and then we would eat our food and let him feed himself. But about 2-3 times a week he will gag or cough to get our attention becausae DH and I would be chit chating with each other and not paying attention to him.</p> <p>At our 18 month appointment I asked our doctor if that was normal. He said it is normal but you don't want to encourage it by giving attention when he does that because it could esculate into real choking. </p> <p>Just keep ingoring him and hopefully he will stop... I was concerned about him really choking and the doctor said you will know when he's really choking.</p> <p>We ingore him more when he does it and now he only pretends cough probably once a week at most.</p> <p>Good luck! She does it with her fingers, and I have found no pattern to why or when she does it. This is very strange behavior and she is almost to the point of throwing up. I can't imagine this is very common with LO's, but if anyone has any tips for me on how to get her to stop, that would be so helpful! I've already tried telling her no and taking her hands away from her face but she will keep insisting on doing it. She does this about 3-5 times a day lately. I'm hoping it's a weird phase.... </p>
