@tysonja: Yeah she swallows fine, and opens her mouth for the food and whines if I take too long, but then gags on it. So weird. Our family has horrible gag/smell reflexes as well as texture problems. I mean everyone, from parents to siblings to cousins...lol that's why I am a little curious if she has picked up on that wonderful trait or not. I will wait a week and try again :)

when we first began (around 5 months) LO seemed to enjoy eating, but wasn't too good at swallowing properly :) i wouldn't notice anything while he was eating, but when he was done I could hear that there was stuff in his lungs/windpipe by the sound of his breathing... :) we just stopped/slowed down for a week or two and it got better! i'm sure your LO will develop a taste for all the yummy foods you are giving her soon! :)

I doubt there's any rhyme or reason to the gagging :) I agree with @tysonja: Hold off for a bit and then try again.

how old is your LO? :)

in order to not create any bad associations (not sure if this even happens, though...?) maybe you could just stop altogether for a week and then try again? :) hope it works out!!!

LO started solids about a month ago and she did fine the first few days, then all the sudden she started gagging on every puree I tried giving her. The only thing (the first food we tried) she didn't gag on was squash puree. I have literally tried 15 other things. She eats them, but gags...any idea why? Do you think she really doesn't like the taste or maybe it's a texture thing?
