I did exactly what @autumn865 did. DD got her first tooth at four months and would occasionally bite. A firm 'no, we don't bite' would usually work but if she did it again, I assumed she had had enough and her nursing session was over. Now at 7.5 months, she generally doesn't bite unless something startles her whilst feeding.

We had some issues with a gummy bite awhile ago. It does not feel good teeth or no teeth! I started really paying attention to her latch and how she ate. When she was properly latched her tongue is over her bottom gums. Before she would clamp down she would move her tongue out of the way so I would try to unlatch her then. If she did bite down I would take her off and say sternly "no, that hurts mommy." She might not understand but she heard my tone. If she did it again I ended the nursing session because it meant she was done and just playing. Good luck!

I would totally start working on unlatching and not allowing biting (even if it's just a gummy bite!) now. My BFF had problems with her little man biting and it was awful.

If it gets bad I think you totally can unlatch her and say no! My lo had teeth and bit me around 8 months and I told her no and she understood.

LO is 5 months old and doesn't have teeth yet, but she has been gumming me while nursing and it hurts! I can't imagine how it would feel with teeth. I'm going to guess there isn't much I can do since she doesn't understand "no", but hoping someone has some advice...especially since I don't want this to continue when she gets teeth.
