I posted about this a couple of months ago. It started at maybe 2 months, and he's almost grown out of it at 4.5 months. He just gets mad when we have to sit for a long time in drive thrus, now. We did buy him a Blabla (stuffed toy) just for the car ride, and I think it has helped a lot. He squeezes it the whole way and often falls asleep with its ear in his mouth. Other than that, all we could do was pray it was a phase. It was pure torture so I feel for you.

@MamaBehr: i dont think that's it bc she does the same thing even when my husband is driving and im sitting next to her!

@junebugmama: Traffic is definitely the worst! I dont know if it's in my head, but it seems that the screaming is louder at red lights! I hope this is just a short short phase...

@mrbee: Definitely going to try peekaboo, thanks! Speaking in a silly high pitched voice worked for about 10 min, but drove my husband crazy!

Charlie did this for a while, until I tried peekaboo. I swear, it worked so well! Except I had to play peekaboo nonstop for the entire car ride!

My guy has done this since day one. It's torture. In traffic when he's screaming and crying, sometimes so am I. I feel for you. It's awful.

I have no advice as I have tried EVERYTHING! Nothing has worked. The pedi says he will out grow it. I am waiting not so patiently.

Yes! DD is 4 months and started doing this around 2 months. We have Tried a mirror, a carseat mobile and even having someone sit in the back with her, none worked. I put the sleep sheep on her carseat and sometimes if I put that on and give her her lovey blanket to hold she will fall asleep, or I try to put her in the seat asleep and that sometimes works. Ive also tried calming music, and singing to her that used to work but not so much anymore. Other times we just turn the music on and endure a crying babe! I figure as with every other phase this to will pass! Sorry, don't know if that helped much, but if it's any consolation I've found from my other mommy friends this is somewhat common!

My only thought with that is that she is old enough to know you aren't there anymore, so maybe she is bored or worried you are gone? I never noticed that with either of my babies, but neither were that good about the car when they were tiny. So, try toys or a mirror or something like that?

Yes, mine did this from day 1... But she stopped around 4 months. Mine did it because she didn't like being laid back. We got a mirror and some toys for her to look at/play with. That, along with time eventually helped.

I feel your pain and I hope things turn around very soon.

My LO is 3.5 months now, and until last week was a dream in the car. Last week she started screaming in the car and basically screams the entire ride. The strange part is when we strap her into the seat at home and pop the seat into the snap 'n go, she's fine, but as soon as we place the seat into the car, she goes nuts.
Has anyone encountered this issue, and any suggestions?
