This happened to my LO the day he turned 6 months. It was so frustrating and sad and it was mainly with my mom and MIL who always wanted to get in his face and hold him. I would just try and prep him and let him inspect them and analyze the situation before handing him off. He would usually be reaching for me in 2.5 seconds but I just tried to make sure I didn't shelter him too much.

It lasted until he turned 10 months and he's been fine ever since. He still gets upset if he sees me walking away but he is ok when other people hold him now.

O is almost 5 months and we got a touch of this yesterday. My aunt (that she hasn't seen since Christmas, and before that, Thanksgiving) saw her yesterday. When she scooped in to pick her up, O started WAILING. and kept that up for hours. If she even looked at her while she was in my arms she cried! It was awful, I felt terrible. My aunt was so sad.

....does this mean she is doomed to be afraid of everyone she comes in contact with besides DH and I in the future? DH and I are both pretty outgoing people and I would hate to be the one who has the kid attached to my leg at social events. Does anyone know how I can work on this now, to ensure later on she is a little more social? LO is almost 6 months old now.
