I made an emergency trip to the store for the Hylands, and I can't really tell if they're working... I want to say they're not, but he's napping right now so maybe?

This is seriously the hardest time I've had since he was born. He hasn't slept alone since last Wednesday. My back hurts from arching my back all night while he nurses.

AND to top it all off, I'm pretty sure he's teething a canine! He has no teeth yet, so his first tooth will be a freaking vampire tooth. All I can think about is how much that's going to hurt if he bites me while nursing.

Wah!

I second the suggestion of Hyland's teething tablets. They're all natural and really help. I also know some moms who use a cold washcloth with good results, some babies prefer the texture of them to the teething rings.

@allison: I totally get that, I've only given LO tylenol once in his life. I always would rather try something else before using meds.

I understand you reluctance to use Tylenol and other OTCs, but have you or would you consider a homeopathic remedy? We have an amber teething necklace for Lorelei, but it was retired early on because after several attempts it just didn't seem to be doing anything useful for her. And, yes, it was real baltic amber, etc. We have had good success with this: http://www.boironusa.com/products/camilia/ and I do feel comfortable in giving it to an infant. In my (admittedly) anecdotal experience, babies who were sleeping alone and suffer a disruption due to teething or an illness do generally go back to sleeping independently. :)

@Kemma: That's great to hear that she will sleep on her cot, too. I don't mind sharing the bed with LO, I just also want him to be able to sleep on his own. His crib is in our room, right next to our bed, so he's still pretty close. But I do think he just needs Mama cuddles right now, and I'm happy to oblige!

@hilsy85: re: Tylenol, I haven't ever given him anything except for breastmilk, and I just don't want to give him medicine unless absolutely necessary! I guess I'm just protective of his little baby body and don't want to put unnatural things in it. I should try frozen washcloths! I forgot about that one. Thanks!

@coacheswife123: Ok, we're on day 3! Maybe we're at the halfway mark now! Fingers crossed.

Hang in there ! I second the teething tabs. Also, orajel helped J before eating. I think it just took the edge off. He was fussy for about a week then got back to normal. His teeth pushed through a few weeks later !

Can I ask why you don't want to give tylenol? Does he seem like he's in pain? Maybe try boiron camillia? Oooor a frozen washcloth? Or breastmilk ice cubes?

My LO and I have been part-time bed sharing since six months and at nine months she'll happily sleep all night in her cot :-) I think that sometimes a wee babe needs to be close to its Mama!

Just think of bed sharing as another option in your toolkit!

So sorry :(. It is just a phase! Have you tried teething tablets? Hyland's really do seem to help my LO.

We just got back from a beach vacation, which was not exactly vacation for me because, as we all know, vacationing with an infant is a lot of work. On the 10 hour (!) drive home, he was so fussy and only slept in 30 minute increments. Wouldn't nurse well. It was rough. We got home around 9pm, which is 2 hours past his bedtime, and I immediately got him ready for bed, nursed him, and put him down. He went down as normal, but woke up screaming an hour later (he never does this). Chalked it up to gas (he burped), put him back down, and he did the same thing 20 minutes later. We were all exhausted, so I just brought him to bed with us, and he slept pretty well the rest of the night.

Last night, he woke up several times to nurse. He nursed for so long that I fell asleep each time and didn't wake up for an hour or so. Tried moving him back to his crib (usually very easy), but he woke up 10 minutes later. After doing this a few times, I just let him stay in the bed with us (again). He slept well.

Today, he *just* went down for a nap. He woke up at 8am. I tried nursing him, rocking him, holding him, etc. All of which usually work to get him to go to sleep. No dice. Finally, I side-lie nursed him in our bed, and he was out in like 2 minutes.

He's been so grumpy the last two days, too. Not our normal, happy baby!

I've got an amber necklace in the post from Etsy, I don't want to give Tylenol, and frozen teethers only help a little (but they do seem to help a little).

Please tell me he will go back to sleeping in his crib after this tooth comes in! I don't mind the occasional co-bedding, but my husband doesn't sleep well with LO in the bed and I feel like it's better for all of us for him to sleep in his crib.

Also, how long will it be before I get my baby back?!
