@BabyBoecksMom: awe that's gotta be tough. My 4.5 month old now wakes up when we get home in the car seat too. I sometimes wonder if I should just keep driving! :) Good luck with everything!

@googly-eyes: Thanks - I'll keep talking to them. Since she just moved up, she's the youngest by a couple of months, so they're not used to having a baby needing a 3rd nap.

@cvbee: She will usually nap in the car on the ride home, but a soon as we stop the car, her eyes spring open. This week, we moved her bedtime up by 30 minutes, so I guess I'll try moving it up another 30 min next week if she still doesn't get a 3rd nap. I hate to do it because I feel like I hardly get to see her as it is :-(

I think around that time you drop the 3rd nap no? Just as an FYI, you may want to check and see what the schedule is for 1 year olds. I know when my LO went to the 1 year old room they only nap ONCE per day. You may want to work on adjusting to 2 naps so that by the time she's a year she is ready to go down to 1 nap.

We often will let her snooze for a bit from 5-5:30 or if she's really tired they will put her down for a second rest around 4-4:30.

@BabyBoecksMom: this isn't maybe what you want to hear, but I have been a JK teacher many times and some of the kids at that age still need a nap, but the school day does not allow for it. Those kids' parents tell me that they give them a nap immediately afterschool and/or make the bedtime an hour earlier, and things work out. From what I remember in Healthy Sleep book I think he mentions moving bedtime up by an hour when you first drop the 3rd nap.

As someone who has been in childcare situations as the (though not with infants) I would say just keep talking to them! It's great that they are trying. Maybe you could talk to them more about how she fights naps and how things are going at home with regard to the naps, so they can get a better picture of where your LO is- the bigger picture. And they can let you know more about how things are going at daycare. Hope it works out and the napping gets better!

DD is 7 months and was just moved up into a new room (7-12 months) at daycare. I absolutely love her "teachers" and they are so good with all of the babies. But the problem is, they only have two scheduled nap times during the day. I understand that they are trying to get everyone on the same schedule, but she really, really needs 3 naps. Everyday, she's coming home so overtired and it's sad to watch her fight it. Yesterday, she only had one 1-hr nap (she needs a total of 4 hours per day) and she was just miserable.

I've mentioned that she needs her nap a couple of times now, and I know that they're trying (she does fight naps), but I really want her to get her naps. Any ideas on what I should be saying to them to get them to give her an extra nap?
