@StrawberryShortie: My DS doesn't like meat either. He also went through a period about the same age as your DD where he only wanted certain foods. I think it was more about getting to experience new foods and once he did he wanted that food all the time. He would get stuck on a couple of foods for a few weeks and then turn to something else. (For example, when he first had soup I think he was so excited to get to use a bowl and spoon) I'm just glad he wants to eat and don't get wrapped up in what it is or isn't.

@Corduroy: She has one snack at daycare I think and I usually give her a couple grapes or a small serving of yogurt before dinner (did I mention she hates cows milk too) lolol

I am trying to stay away from juice and crackers because I know they can be a big fall back for her

I wouldn't worry about the pickiness. You didn't mention snack habits but in case it's helpful, I know pickiness becomes a battle in our house when LO snacks a lot. It drives me a little batty when grandma provides a lot of crackers during the day. It's like LO can only think about goldfish and won't eat anything else. That might be more of a MIL issue than a toddler eating issue though.

LO1 was always a great eater (and still is), but LO2 is super picky and eats very little at meals. I give him a variety of foods, most of which he hates. I keep offering and don't give up, even when I really want to at times. It's even harder because he has so many food allergies, and his food options are more limited than an average toddler. Try to look at your LO's intake over the course of a week.

@StrawberryShortie: I don't know!

I saw you said she is teething, my LO is the same way. I think she is working on her 2 yr molars too, so it might be the reason for the lack of appetite or maybe it is her cold. I have given up trying to understand it.

@Mama Bird: Her molars are coming in and I do notice that she eats less. I always worry that she'll be like me and be all crabby when she doesn't eat lol

@LuLu Mom: Yeah I've tried the two option thing. I usually get a resounding "Nope, Sank-you"

I'll ease off a bit

@LuLu Mom: When I ask LO what she wants and she tells me and then doesn't eat, I get so mad.

It is total normal. LO will love one thing and the next day, no interest in it. It is frustrating. Mine is going trough a 2-3 bites of dinner that is all phase.

Just take it easy... keep offering whatever you're eating, but don't stress if she doesn't eat a lot.

DS went through that phase, but he was eating like a champ in day care. I'd offer a couple of alternatives, but if he didn't want anything, off he went to play without dinner. He never complained... clearly he was stuffed from his day meals  It also turned out his molars were coming through, but I had no clue because the pickiness was the only sign.

E goes through phases. She either eats what we give her or she skips a meal. I put a variety on her plate and sometimes she eats all, sometimes none or just some of it...*shrug*. If she's not starving or falling off the weight chart, it's just how toddlers exert their limited power :)

My DD went (and still) goes through this. I'm the mom who says you eat what we eat, or here is your alternative (usually deli meat, cheese, veggie.) I dont' make a separate meal. However, if you can swing it at that age I would ask her "do you want eggs or pancakes" or do you want "applesauce or yogurt" it usually helped to give her 2 options so she felt like she was "helping" make the meal.

She's 2 1/2 and we still got through "I hate spaghetti, it's yucky" when it's her favorite food normally, so in that case it's either spaghetti or she gets deli meat from the fridge.

So my wonderfully willful and stubborn 17 month old is a big lover of a variety of foods. However, for the last 2 months she is being picky about what foods she wants and when. For instance, she loves eggs- but will refuse them if she doesn't feel like it.

Girlfriend is a sassy pants

I always said I didn't want to be a mum who makes five dinners but I want to make sure she is getting enough nutrition but in a stress-free environment.

The only thing she will never refuse is applesauce, potatoes, peas and cheese. Also she hates meat

any suggestions?
