Just wanted to update this in case anyone is searching later! I took lo to the ophthalmologist and she has perfect, 20/20 vision! It's most likely just environmental (NYC radiators/dry heating) and/or dust allergies so the dr recommended otc eyedrops. Getting lo to open her eyes to actually USE the eyedrops is another story... ;)

Here (Ontario, Canada) kids start seeing an eye doctor at 6 months and go yearly. So I would definitely recommend that!

If your insurance allows it is honestly skip straight to the eye doctor.

That sounds a lot like eye strain. I’d see if you can find a pediatric ophthalmologist to get her eyes tested. Doctors usually have a device that can approximate a vision test, but it is not as accurate as the test an eye doctor will give.

My 4.5 year old lately has been complaining that her eyes hurt. We have noticed she complains more later in the day, especially when she hasn’t napped and is tired. And she blinks a lot, more than usual, it looks like she’s trying to keep her eyes open. But, it’s also winter and the air is dry/we all have colds. Basically, I feel like it could be nothing/sensitivity , but maybe she needs glasses? I started wearing mine when I was 4...

Any insight or experience? We’ll check with our pediatrician soon.
