@hilsy85: he does. I just let him fuss through it last night and he laid back down and went to sleep so I'm done going in there. He did pull up once last night so that should make things interesting.

DS is doing this. He's 11 months and will sit up randomly when he's sleeping or when i try to put him to sleep. He doesn't know how to lay back down so he ends up falling asleep while sitting up only to bash his head into the slats as he leans forward while asleep. Bash = wake up and cry. rinse and repeat. if I go in to lay him down, he'll just roll over and sit back up.

Only way for me to get him to sleep is to pick him up, and he'll 8/10 times fall asleep pretty quickly, then I put him back down. Which he will conveniently wake up and sit back up about an hour or so later. :crying:

@jetsa: does he know how to lie back down on his own? I would go in, lie him down, and leave, especially if it's at the beginning of a nap.

Side note, so funny reading this post from what feels like a million years ago!

So bringing up an old thread, DS has figured this out and is screaming at the top of his lungs if we don't go get him immediately. Do I just leave him?

I am jealous of you guys! O is doing this but is so stubborn that she just won't go to sleep. I end up back in there after 40-60m and redo the whole routine. Sigh.

Elliot does this too. He also stands up. If I go in and keep laying him down it just makes him more deteemined to stand up. Lately I've just been leaving him and after about 10 minutes he'll lay back down with his blankie and go to sleep. It's really frustrating though!

J does this too - he'll roll around and sit and kneel and roll some more when we put him down for a nap, but after 10 minutes or so (less when he's super tired) he eventually falls asleep. I think of it like he's trying to find the comfiest spot to sleep in!

We went through this, it was annoying but it resolved after about a week and we just ignored him unless he got worked up and then we soothed and put him back in. I'm not looking forward to a similar phase once he realizes he can pull up and stand in his crib :(

Leave him. He'll get his fill of practicing his new trick and stop trying eventually.

M has been doing this the last few weeks too! I just let her be and watch her on the video monitor and she falls asleep eventually. She's used to putting herself to sleep and going down "drowsy but awake" so I figure she needs to be able to do this too :)

LO recently learned how to sit up on his own, and today, he's been sitting up in his crib once I lay him down for a nap. Do I keep going in and laying him down or do I just leave him? How long would you leave him for? he's not fussing when he's sitting up, he's just kind of chilling/playing. And he is definitely tired as he fell asleep nursing right before I put him in the crib.
