Normal. I know it's easy to panic and think the worst (I was bracing for dyslexia) but that's not a sign.

Normal. My LO is in kindergarten and still sometimes mixes up letters like b and d. I do correct him so that he's aware of the mistake.

My Kindergartener does this and her teacher isn't concerned - she says most kids stop doing this by 2nd grade

The fixed directionality of letters and numbers is a concept that can take a while to grasp. At this age they often think that it doesn't matter which direction the letters are going. It seems arbitrary to them and so I think sometimes they just make a choice. It is totally normal. She's experimenting with letters. I think it's good to tell her what direction they go, but I wouldn't worry about it. You can write the same letter as well and ask her if yours and hers look the same. Or compare it to the letters in the book. It's good to get her to notice the difference

Not a teacher but I say normal. My girl,a name starts with C and at 5.5 she still writes in backwards on occasion. There are many things she has been able to write and now gets wrong. We just keep practicing. We do point them out to her and make correction.

My daughter (same age) did the same for a month or two. Even doing some upside down and backwards but has corrected her first name so far. Seems pretty normal.

LO just turned 4. She's in preschool FT. She had been writing her name and other letters for several months. About a month ago she started writing the first letter of her name 'Z' backwards. Over the past month she turned more and more letters and numbers backwards. I've mentioned the backwardsness to her casually but I haven't harped on it or sat her down to try to fix it. Mainly because I thought she was messing around and/or it would pass. I haven't mentioned it to her teachers either.

I'm not worried but I am surprised it hasn't fixed itself yet. Is this a normal phase or something I should be addressing?
