He LOVES it. It's sometimes like herding cats to get all the kids that age engaged, but at least here (in MD) our Soccer Shots coach is specially trained to teach young kids (we had 2-5 yo kids in our class), and we love him so much we've contracted him directly to coach this winter at an indoor soccer dome.</p> <p>For the little ones, SS is more about teaching skills and coordination and having fun than about playing soccer, per se. So they run around some, but they also learn specific skills (one skill per lesson) and at the end each gets a turn to kick and score a goal while the others cheer for them. They teach the importance of patience, listening, being a supportive teammate. My son has gotten so much out of it. </p> <p>That said, he's definitely had days where he didn't listen and wandered around or just stood on the sidelines with me. I try to encourage him to do as much as he feels ready to do on a given day. Sometimes they need the numbers for the class and my daughter will get to join for free. She loves it! They come to her school and teach soccer to the kids during a time she'd be at school anyway, so we thought it was a good segue into activities without having to carve out extra time in our schedule. The first session is today!</p> <p>Has your family done Soccer Shots? How did you like it? </p>
