My answer might be different depending on your girls age, but my first instinct is to bump up to perhaps two days (especially if she'll soon be full time). I'd also suggest talking a lot about going to school: mark it boldly on the calendar, discuss it in the days before, involve her in preparing for school the night before (packing a bag, picking out clothes, etc). Play "going to school" when you're together at home and create/practice a drop-off routine as part of that play. Involve her in it: would see like a good-bye rhyme or for you to set a timer for how long you'll stay? Those are both things kids in my preschool class do and it works very well for them. Plus the good-bye rhyme is dang cute!

Also: once you guys pick a way to drop-off, stick with it the best you can. Consistency is your best friend

I have a few friends who had their kids in part-time care, and they struggled more than those in full-time care, mainly due to the inconsistent schedules. I think she'll be fine once she's in full time care. Hang in there!

My friend went through this on her maternity leave with 1x week preschool but her kid did great when she transitioned to a FT schedule. Hugs mama!

@prettylizy - remind me how old she is right now? How long has she been going there? Does she know any kids at her preschool outside of it?

@prettylizy: is it only at drop off or all day long? If its only at drop off and then she settles and has a good day I wouldn't worry about it but if she is upset all day maybe adding an extra day would help?

E has been struggling with daycare drop off for the past few weeks and it's only getting worse :(
Her main teacher brought it up to me that she just doesn't seem herself lately in class either. I *think* its because the last day she had at school before the holiday break I stayed with her for the morning for their Christmas party. She's only going 1x week, and now she cries and says she wants mommy to stay. Anyone dealt with this? We're considering sending her more days to see if the structure would help. She'll be going full time when I go back to work in mid-March as well. Help mamas!
