@Smurfette: @sorrycharlie: @MrsSRS: @jetsa: The legs of her crib are on the front/back so that wouldn't work.

@looch: Right - though according to OCPT if you teach them to get up in the night to pee they will start consolidating & moving their "pee time" closer to the morning so eventually they stay dry through the night. That is, of course, if they are physically ready. I'm sure she's not - she turns 2 in two weeks. AND, that would require a big girl bed.

Once again, this morning, LO felt around her whole sheet saying, "I pee pee. Check!" I just don't really say anything! :/

Like @MrsSRS: you can't take the front off our crib because you lose the legs that's how we ended up with a floor bed when he climbed out

@daniellemybelle: night training can't really be done. They are either developmentally ready or not. The action you are looking for during the night is actually waking up to use the bathroom, not only holding it the entire night.

@daniellemybelle: It depends on the crib. One of ours is structurally sound without the fourth side because the legs are part of the short sides. One of ours is not.

@daniellemybelle: yup, you can totally just take the front off! DD1's bed wanted like, $200 for the conversion kit. I was not spending that on a dinky little railing!! We already tried it out - we took the front off and it was fine. We ordered this actually, to help keep her/her things in bed and while it was a bit of a bear to install, it is awesome. I have memories of my brother falling out of his bed WITH his railing lol because it just slid under the mattress.

@Smurfette: Does it really work like that? I thought it had to be an actual convertible crib.

I still don't know if she could manage getting a pull-up down... She is just getting to where she can kind of do loose pants. We would probably have to practice first. And maybe we need nightgowns.

Just take the front of the crib off. Buy a mesh net on Amazon for $20. It lets her get in and out but it is still the comfort of the bed she knows. And you don't have to buy a regular bed.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Her crib doesn't convert. We'd have to buy a bed. I really would love to keep her in her crib until she climbs out or is, like, in middle school.

As far as undies - that would basically be night(nap) training which I don't really want to do (or think she is ready for physically) at this point.

Can you convert her crib to a toddler bed so she can get out of it on her own?

What about putting her in undies so she can feel the wet spot when she sleeps too?

@Mama Bird: I had no plans to night train. OCPT says that many LOs naturally start waking up dry and you can wait until 3.5 to see if that happens before actively night training. I'm just a bit at a loss at how to handle it that SHE doesn't like wetting when she's sleeping. :(

@daniellemybelle: FWIW moving to a bed didn't help DS, he sleeps all night long and just can't wake up to pee. Yeah... night training is tough.

sorry I'm another vote for moving her out of bed, if you want her potty training, I think she needs the ability to get up and use the potty turning the night and she's obviously sad about being wet, only way to fix that is give her an opportunity to try and go during the night.

I will say my 3 year old still wears a pull-up (trained for a year this Thanksgiving) and she just is in such a deep sleep we can't depend on her waking up. She's 50/50 and those are not odds I'm willing to risk without a pull-up at night.

I think once they start potty training, moving out of the crib is a good idea. D was comfy in his crib forever, but I had to teach him he can get up and go to the potty if he feels like he needs to. It actually didn't happen very often.

LO has been potty trained for 2 weeks. We've even gotten through the poop holding and most days she will poop on the potty. Occasionally she will still poop in her pull-up, and after every nap and every morning her pull-up is wet. Not soaked like she was holding it for the pull-up but definitely wet.

The past few days, when I go get her she immediately says, "I pee pee the bed," in a sad voice. She feels around her crib mattress and seems confused that even though she peed, the bed is not wet. A few times she has said, "Check," like, "Find where the pee went." I really feel like she doesn't get why the pull-up is catching it at this point and sees it as just another accident. This is different than several days ago when she was intentionally holding poop for and asking for a pull-up.

I think this is a good sign that she is very aware but I don't know what to do or what to tell her. I usually, "That's okay, you were sleeping," but I don't really go into, "You were wearing a pull-up and it caught the pee and that's okay." I feel like that is counter intuitive or maybe not?

Please don't tell me this means we need to try to night train because she clearly isn't physically able to hold it that long and I don't want to mess with sleep!

One thought I did have is that maybe she is peeing right when she wakes up and I'm not getting to her soon enough, and that's why she's upset - it's more of an accident than just waking up wet. But the only solution I can think of there is for her to be in a bed instead of a crib with her potty in the room so she can get up and potty right away... And again, her sleep is great so I don't want to move her out of the crib!

Thoughts? Maybe just ignore it and she'll get over it?
