@autumnlove: Our teacher claimed she'd do that too... but I actually don't think she remembers on most days, as accidents continue to happen. That's why the director advised me to call 5 minutes ahead. So bummed.

LO teachers know what time I will be there so I asked them to take her to the potty 15-20 mins before I arrive!

@Mamaof2: I am hanging in there as I have no option! haha!

@luckypenny: I doubt it.... it will be more awkward to have him pee in the parking lot in a small potty anyway and I highly doubt he would like it.

I will hang in there and hopefully this *phase* will be over soon. I am tired of rushing home at pick up hoping to beat the accident.

What about a portable potty for the car? Would he go in a portable potty with you?

@irene: I think everything is a phase when it comes to kids! Hang in there!

What time does he wake from nap? Does he pee at that time? Maybe have the teacher limit his fluids after nap?

My DD pees around 3pm after nap and doesn't pee again until 6:30 or 7pm before bed

@Cole: No... It is the toilet (with a toilet seat adapter) in his bathroom! And no, it is not the flusher... It is the environment. I'll try the game thing but I have a feeling he'd say no. Nowadays even if I offer a sticker if he uses the potty outside, he'd say no :(

@hotchildinthecity: I don't do the pull ups- it was just yesterday because I know the traffic will be bad. He literally told me he had to pee, go to the restroom and took off his pants, and then he won't use the potty and declared he will use it at home. There was one time he literally PEED it all out on the car seat between school and home, I went bananas. (Which was why I forced him to wear a pull up yesterday) It was a pain to take the seat out to wash and my car smelled like pee the next day. Yes I know, I need to buy a seat protector soon.

@Mamaof2: He won't, he would struggle to get up, scream and cry. Even if I were able to make him sit, he just refuse to pee, I can't extract the pee out of him. Also, no treats work at all :-(

@irene: What would happen if you made him sit until he pees? I have to do that with DD sometimes before bed and once she relaxes she can finally go although it may take 4-5 mins

Also have a special treat in the car - tell him that after he pees he can go to the car and get it.

I like cole's suggestion of making it a game.

I don't know a ton about potty training, although I'll be getting a crash course soon, but it seems he might be getting confused with some of the back and forth i.e. the pull up in the car.

This isn't an elegant solution but might help you through this phase. Is his preferred potty portable? Could you buy an extra to keep in your car for him to use?

I have always had decent success taking toddlers on a no need to try exploration mission of public toilets. Being familiar with the options seems to help and getting to scope out the other toilets helps. If he is worried about automatic flushers a sticky note over the sensor keeps it grin going off.

Good luck!

ETA- I wonder if he would be up for a game of how many different toilets can you go in this weekend? Keep track and if he goes in X maybe he can get a reward?

@Mamaof2: That was the plan a few weeks ago, but sometimes the teachers forgot. Even though they did take him at 4:20, sometimes 4:30, I arrive at 4:45, and we will sometimes be stuck in traffic and not get home until 5:20. He would have an accident around 5:15.

The thing is, I really wonder if he empties his bladder at school. If we go out, he could stay dry for hours (screaming to use the potty toward the end). I don't quite understand why he couldn't hold it from 4:20 to 5:15.

ETA: I do worry about his health. Yesterday he took me to the potty and won't pee. I know there is a lot of traffic, so I forced (with a lot of kicking and crying involved) him to wear a pull-up. He was in the car and insisted to hold until he gets home, even though I told him it is OK to pee now. Sigh

I would do what you suggested above - have him pee before you get there.

I always get there btwn 430 and 445 so I would tell them to have him pee at 415.

Can you give them a specific time so you don't have to call everyday?

My potty training adventure continues.

So, LO (2 years 8 months) is now "day-trained" - he wears underwear during daytime except for naps and bedtime. He has a strong preference of using his toilet at home ONLY.

Since he started wearing underwear to school, he would use the potty throughout the day, but will NOT use the potty once he sees me. His thinking was he wants to hold it until he got home and use the potty at home. Even if he literally took me to the bathroom at school, took off his pants, he would not pee a drop and say he's done. We are not far from our home but there are a lot of traffic in our area. So he would have an accident in the car 40-50% of the time in the car after pick up :-( To him, having an accident in the car is worth it for him to use the potty at home instead of school :-(

He is also that way when we go out. After a few weekends of OK to use the potty outside, he had reverted to trying to hold it for hours until we get home :-(

So everyday he'd be screaming he needs to go home and pee pee in the car. I worry about his health of always holding pee.

I talked to the director and she said I can call them 5 minutes before pickup so they can take him to potty right before I arrive. That's a temporary solution. I hope, as we haven't tried it yet (will call today at pickup)

I just wanted to ask if anyone had such an issue before, and please tell me that it will eventually ends? And when will it end?
