It is a fantastic name and fits him well. Incidentally, my son is 3 and watches "the Wiggles" and the current purple Wiggle is "Lachlan" (or Lackey as they call him). I do prefer the more phonetic spelling of "Locklin" versus the traditional "Lachlan" for a boy. As for it being a girls' name, I had a female student named, "Lachlynn." I believe it is a unisex name, however, like Frances/Francis and Teagan/Teigon or Teegen, (etc.) one can differentiate through the spelling of the name.
