@looch: Thanks! Good to know about the car seat on the bus. I suppose they stow it away beneath? And we are bringing a convertible car seat on the plane... an Evenflo Sureride 65. Window seat it is! That should please her, she'll enjoy watching the clouds.

@Beehive: Thank you! I'll have to look into a carseat backpack. That's the one thing I am really dreading carrying around.

You should get your stroller back if you gate check it - they take it on the bridgeway and give it back to you as you exit the plane.

We have always installed LO's carseat rear facing on the plane - not sure if it's necessary or not (as what you're really protecting against is sudden turbulence, not a collision like in a car), but that's what LO is used to. You have to install the carseat in the window seat, as it would block the rest of the row from exiting.

Carrying everything through the airport is a pain, but if both you and your DH will be traveling, it will be doable. You may want to get wheels that you can put on your carseat (if it's a convertible carseat) so you can wheel it through the airport; otherwise they sell carseat backpacks so you can carry it that way.

Have a great trip! Despite all the gear, we love traveling with LO!

Are you bringing an infant car seat? If so, it can only be installed rear facing. You may get flak from the flight attendants on this, the rule is that the seat can not be installed in a rear facing seat (think the jump seats the FA's sit in).

Car seat has to be in the position where it does not impede someone's exit from the row. It must be in the window or in the situation where you have 3 seat in the middle of the plane, in the dead center.

If you're taking the Magical Express to WDW, you can't install your car seat on the bus.

I know, I know, these threads pop up all the time, but bear with me :silly:

We are flying out in 3 weeks from our regional airport to Orlando, with a stop in Houston. We are taking our then-10 month old with us, and she will have her own seat/carseat. So, a couple questions, from someone who has never flown with a kid.

-If I gate check my stroller at the first flight, will I get it back for my layover?
-Do you install the car seat rear or forward facing on the plane? Other than safety, are there any pros/cons to either way?
-How the heck do you carry everything through the airport?!
-Where does the car seat have to go? Window? Aisle?

And this is a Disney-specific question, but for those of you who have been to Disney World before, do you have any extra tips for me, about anything at all?
