I had lots and lots of parts! I did have to take the bottle downstairs afterwards but everything was all set beforehand.

Yep, mini fridge, cooler, small lunch box. Whatever! Anything to save you running up and down stairs!

@HappyBaker: yeah, if stairs were involved, I totally would have put an insulated lunch bag with a cold pack next to the bed and stored the milk a few hours--no biggie! Or get one of those tiny, tiny fridges for drinks and put it in your bedroom!

I didn't EP, but we have a mini fridge in our bedroom. Our room was a long ways away from the kitchen, so having cold waters and snacks was essential. And on the few occasions that I pumped at night, it was nice to be able put parts and milk in there.

I second washing the parts before bed. Our lactation consultant also told me that breast milk is good at room temperature for I think 5 hours after it's pumped. When I pumped in the motn I just let the bottles sit next to bed until I woke up. It was about 4 hours and I never had any problems.

Could you not set a cooler next to your bed before you go to sleep?

I washed parts before bed and took them up with me to save one trip. But yea after pumping and before/after the next session you're pretty much making the trip unless you buy a mini fridge

When I EPd, I would bring baby downstairs with me (I figured why make DH wake up too since I had to regardless). I would pump on the couch with the footrest up, and lay a pillow on top of my feet/legs, then lay DD on top of the pillow and feed her with one hand while using the other to pump. This eliminated all the stair nonsense, but it was still a huge PITA :(

We finally just moved up to our bedroom for sleeping with our 2 week old, after spending the first 2 weeks downstairs so as not to bother our toddler as much with MOTN wakings.

Last night was our first night with the baby in the Rock & Play by our bed. He's been waking up 2 or so times a night, during which I pump and DH gives him a bottle. But its so annoying to run down to the kitchen to get my pump parts out of the fridge and put them back again / plus putting any extra ounces in another bottle to store. Last night I also spilled an entire 3 ounce bottle because I tripped on the stairs!

Any tips to make this easier?
