@MrsScallop: Wow, that's cool! We're now debating exactly what we want to do...but it's definitely good to know that the car ride should be manageable!

Do it! When I was 20+ weeks pregnant, DH and I took a month long road trip from the Midwest to Boston, Florida, then back home. We went 6000 miles and camped most nights to save money. We stopped every 2 hours for me to get up and walk around but otherwise being pregnant didn't affect the trip too much.

@Mrs.Pinecone316:  I've been scoping out websites designed for over-the-road truckers that outline all the rest areas, truck stops, etc.

@Charm54: Yikes! That's a crazy long car trip!!!

@FliegepilzHut: I just came back from a 5 hour flight with a 3 yo at 20 weeks pregnant. It was fine so I would encourage you to go. We did two potty breaks and lots of stretching. Have fun!

@FliegepilzHut: Last summer when I was about 30 weeks pregnant we took a ~11-12 hour road trip. We did the entire drive in one day, both on the way there and on the way back. We stopped about every 3 hours so I could walk around and stretch, I drank a lot of water, I used a lumbar pillow to be more comfortable, and I wore compression stockings (which I was already wearing due to varicose veins). It was totally fine and LO is 6 months old now, so we both survived :) I would imagine you'll be totally fine at 20 weeks!

@FliegepilzHut: I would recommend a catheter (haha jk) I don't think 5 hr stretches sound too terrible comfort wise but for me having to pee all the time I hate having to do anything where a bathroom isn't nearby.

We drove across the country (Seattle to VA) when I was at the very end of the second trimester. I had to bargin with DH for bathroom breaks (we did every 3 hrs) and I was having some rib pain which was a little uncomfortable but we were also in a get to point B from point A mode, not enjoy the trip. Totally doable! I packed lots of snacks and hydrated (but not too much since I lost the battle in stopped every 2 hrs!).

I think it should be totally manageable. We drove 11 hrs each way when I was 34 weeks to my SIL's wedding. It wasn't too bad, even that far along! I wore compression socks just to be safe.

Take breaks to get out and walk, keep hydrated, bring fun and healthy snacks! And have fun!!!

Drove 20+ hours to CO when I was 32 weeks last time. The biggest issue for me at that point was stopping to pee constantly. Though there were no worries about not stretching my legs enough! It really was no problem at all. We're driving to FL for our cruise in 3 weeks, which means I'll be I guess 21 weeks, and I'm not worried. It'll be around 12 hours over 2 days. I'm sure the peeing will be annoying again, but I love road trips, even while pregnant.

I did a 12 hour trip over 2 days when I was a little over 5 months. We had to stop so o could pee and stretch, I drank a ton of water. Also it helped that over night we stayed in a hotel that had a pool and a tub I could fit in, the floating/soaking helped. Oh and bring your best pillow!

I would definitely bring a blanket or pillow that you can roll up and put behind your back if you need to while sitting in the car. We did a 6 hour drive with stops when I was pregnant and I ended up with back and hip pain for awhile afterwards.

I say go for it!

At 20 weeks I felt awesome, I definitely experienced the golden trimester. I did quite a bit of traveling around then, including a Babymoon to Italy at 24 weeks.

I did a 7 hour road trip at 30 weeks and was also ok then. Had to stop every hour/hour and a half to pee but otherwise was fine.
Have fun!

We did a roadtrip that was about 13 hours when I was closer to 30 weeks out of necessity and I was fine. We also have an older toddler so bathroom stops and stretches are necessary regardless.

What I found the most challenging about travelling while pregnant was sleeping somewhere other than my bed. Very rarely do I find a hotel bed that is as comfortable as my own bed.
