I force myself to pee before I left home/work. My commute is about an hour on public train so in cases when I won't make it home/work, I'll get off at a stop where I'm absolutely about to explode and run to the bathroom. I try to hold it, but sometimes, I just won't make it.

If I'm stuck in traffic, I usually have to stop. My commute isn't too long (30 mins on a good day), but I've taken a couple of longer trips and I had to stop after an hour to use the restroom, sooner if I'd been drinking water.

I take public transportation 1 1/2 each way. I'm not pregnant so I can make it home (I pee before I leave work and as soon as I get home). Whenever I've driven longer distances otherwise, I would look for rest stops, gas stations, fast food places...

Do you ever have to stop and use the bathroom before you get home or the office? My drive home will probably take 2 or 2.5 hours. I haven't commuted in a long time....I didn't need to pee a lot 6 weeks ago!
