We made it 3.5 years with no issues. Then my 1 year old and 3.5 year old were playing and pulled them down. They were hung well, but somehow the kids pulled hard enough to snap a substantial wood bracket. No one was hurt. We were lucky. It happened quickly and I see no reason to think it couldn't happen again. Even with the rod basically at the ceiling. She does pull on them sometimes. I put (okay, had my dad put lol) the curtain rods up really securely with wall anchors and then hung the curtains from rings with clips so that if she does pull hard on them, the curtain will just fall on her and not the curtain rod. My mom is about to sew curtains for his room. I think we will have them go two inches below the windowsill, which is too high for him to reach. I do think once we get better blackout blinds and don't need to keep the curtains closed it might help make them boring to her. She will be more than two when we make the switch. Currently we have long room darkening curtains plus extra blackout blinds (paper but hoping to replace soon with real, cordless, blinds). </p> <p>We will probably transition her to a twin bed by the end of the year. I'm worried about the long curtains and if that is safe with a toddler out of the crib. The curtain rods aren't really that super sturdy, like they aren't in a stud or anything.
