@lindseykaye: In the early days of sleep training, I had to wake him up for daycare when his sleep wasn't quite figured out. Within a week or two, he figured out sleep well. Right now, at 11 months old, it boggles my mind why he's waking up at 6am again.

After a failed attempt a few weeks ago with checks, we ended up doing full on extinction. The video monitor we got made a huge difference for me. I know we'll probably go back and forth some, and will have bad nights and good nights but DH and I totally kept giving each other high fives last night, saying "3 minutes?!".
She also woke up once or twice to fuss and fall back asleep but I didn't get out of bed until 5:45 (and she's still asleep now at 6:45! I'm thinking I might have to wake her for daycare!

@cascademom: I have been trying to do 2-3-4 because she is definitely ready for her first nap after 2 hours. I knew we couldn't do the '4' tonigh t though since that would be 10:30!
Hopefully with better naps she will find a nice little schedule for herself. Wouldn't that be nice :)

We push it out if he's had a long nap. Today, he slept from 1:00 to 3:30pm. After that, he went to a restaurant and playground. He got super tired around 6:30pm, then we started bath/bedtime, in bed by 7pm. So, 4 hours. 2-3-4 works really well with LO. Sleep training has done wonders for us.

Yeah we ended up kind of winging it and hanging out for a bit. She (of course) woke up right as I hit submit on this 6:35 and she went in her crib at 8:20. Then she cried for only 3 minutes before putting herself to sleep!!?! :D
This whole sleep training thing has been amazing, by the way. Thanks for the encouragement - it's been rough at times but it's like a switch was flipped for her. She woke up and put herself back to sleep last night for the first time EVER.

That's awesome sleep training is going so well!! I know my LO needs at least 2.5/3 hours of awake time before bed after a monster 2+ nap. I would wake her up now and then just push bedtime out a bit. You might have a hard time getting her down for the night if you try any sooner!

We started sleep training on Friday night and LO has already started sleeping longer stretches. so far today, she took a 2 hour nap earlier and is now 2hr 10 min into another nap!
This is awesome... except that she normally goes to bed in like an hour. What do I do with this? Normal bedtime/routine? Push things a little later, but how late? Sleeping too long is totally new for me hah!
