I would reach out to your doctor... just a phone call. Also, you may want to try an ovulation monitor instead of the OPKs. I could never get my OPKs to read right and seemed to miss my O, but since I've been using the OV Monitor, I've been able to clearly pinpoint my O. I still chart as well to make sure that the info all matches up.
Good luck!!!

thanks! i guess i'll just wait a couple more months to see if thinks regulate again.

I read TCOYF this month and that kind of freaked me out a bit more, as there's not much in there on long lp's but she did say a cause could be LUFS, ( which from what i can gather is when you ovulate the egg becomes trapped instead of going down the fallopian tube). So basically you will have temp spike, ewcm etc but the egg is trapped. i think one of the symptoms is long lp's as well. i'm trying not to freak out just yet, will wait and see over the next couple of months first.

Good luck all and thanks!

I don't have experience with a long luteal phase, but perhaps it's secondary to coming off the pill? It can take up to 6 months for your cycle to regulate after coming off the pill.

Hi ! I too am having issues pinpointing luteal phase / AF / spotting since coming off of BC. I don't have input for you as I'm equally as confused right now, but wanted to wish you luck! :)

Hi all!

Well, after a couple of months of stalking I thought I would finally jump in! I used to post (although not very frequently), over on weddingbee and I was so excited to see this site!

DH and I are New Yorkers who finally tied the knot last August. We knew we wanted to start TTC straight away so I came off BC just before our honeymoon in Sept and we discussed that we would officially start TTC when my cycles regulated (and NTNT until then). Anyway I thought I was pretty lucky as my cycles seemed to regulate straight away back to 28 days (pre BC I always had a 28 day cycle), so yay we started TTC in Oct. So lo and behold my body starts playing tricks on me. My Oct, Nov and Dec cycles all jumped to 34 days.

In Oct I was just monitoring CM and was pretty sure I ovulated around CD14 (as with my previous cycles).

In Nov I decided to use opk’s as well to try and pinpoint O date a bit better. Again, monitoring CM I had ewcm and a + on the opk on C13, indicating that I ovulated on CD14. (no AF until CD 34).

So this past cycle I started charting, and by looking at my chart it seems I have a pretty standard chart. Temp spike was on CD14 and stayed elevated until AF showed up on CD34. 9again indicating O on CD14).

My issue is with pinpointing O to CD14, it seems my luteal phase is around 20 days, which according to all info out there is far too long. (norm 12-16 days i think?). There’s a ton of info out there on short LP’s but not much around long LP’s. Is this something I should be worrying about? We will now be moving in to TTC cycle 4, so I know it’s still early days it just seems weird to me that I regulated but now seem to have this extra long LP phase. Only thing I did differently in the past 3 months was start taking prenatal vitamins. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you and good luck on your TTC journeys! :)
