@Jackiedavis87: From my first pregnancy, I didn't start to attempt to lose weight until almost a year later. This time around, life is so much more busy and complicated. It's taking me longer to get back to normal and find the new normal. It was about 2 years after my first that we even thought we were ready to try for another when my body was in better shape. Right now, I'm in that got to get it back in shape and handle being a mom of two, working, commuting, etc.

@dc yoga bee: @cascademom: @MarieJ: so what I'm hearing is that my body may just need more time 😔. I'm 9 months pp now and I really thought I should be feeling back to normal by now, but based off everyone's responses I see it could take 2 years. Well I'm just going to go with the knowledge that good things take time. And thank god I only had to do it once because I am done done done lol.

I had short term complications after I had my second DD. I have always had perfect blood pressure. It was perfect throughout both of my pregnancies, but at my 2 week check up (to check my C-section scar) after having DD2, my blood pressure was pretty close to stroke level. I was put on BP medicine and by the time she was 12 weeks, it was back to normal and I weaned off the meds.

My blood pressure is still high 16 months postpartum. It could be because I still have additional weight on my body due to poor eating habits, stress, and depression. It's being monitored right by my physician. The weight could also be effecting my snoring which is also being monitored by an ENT. My thyroid was checked recently and is normal.

The other lasting postpartum side effect is a herniated belly button. I'll be having a surgeon look at that in the future by a possible surgery. The herniation happened from the fast labor and crazy pressure DS #2 put on my body working his exit. He wanted to be born way earlier than the doctors wanted thanks to GBS and antibiotics.

@dc yoga bee: I feel the same! I ended up with an emergency C section so couldn't exercise for ages. My sod and tailbone took ages to recover. My DD is almost 18 months and I'm finally starting to feel better again, just as we try for #2!

I had pre-e. Blood pressure was normally 110/77. Then it jumped to the 190/90, and protein in urine. I was induced at 38 weeks. While in the hospital, my blood pressure was still high. I didn't need medication, but they checked it for weeks after. She checked my thyroid 9 months later, because I just didn't feel right. Normal. I'm now 16 months postpartum, and I'm just now starting to feel like myself again! Each and every time the midwives told me it takes time for hormones to regulate, including up to a year after stopping breastfeeding if you did that. My blood pressure did stabilize after about a month. Be kind to yourself, your body may just need some time. I know it's discouraging, and I felt the same way like I had damaged my body! I couldn't even workout until a year postpartum, and I had a vaginal delivery! Pregnancy and recovery are hard!

@Banana330: thanks for sharing! I have been seeing a pelvic floor specialist since pregnancy and we are doing a lot of Pilates exercises to help with core strength. It's significantly better than it was while pregnant, but I have a long history of joint instability and hyper mobility which isn't helping the situation at all. We want more babies, so I'm terrified of what the next pregnancy will bring.

I had pre-e with my first (induced at 36+6) and it took several weeks for my BP to come down. I was on 3 medications when I left the hospital and they slowly weaned me off of them. I think I was off all 3 by 6 weeks postpartum, but my BP still wasn't normal, just better.

If it helps - my postpartum symptoms (mainly persistent aches & pains I attribute to the massive swelling from pre-e) in general really started to improve around 1 year. Hope yours start to improve soon! I really feel you on feeling like you are never going to get better though - I had just about given up when things finally improved some.

I'm kind of surprised they have you on BP meds at 130/80. My BP seems to hover between 120-130/75-80 post-partum and my doctor tells me she's not concerned.

I am newly pregnant with #2, though, so they are planning to monitor me more carefully this time and will have me start seeing maternal fetal medicine at 10-12 weeks.

@catomd00: I've had -about a year of Physio and the last three months of pelvic floor Physio and I'm finally better. Working on core strength now with pilates. It's made a world of difference for how I feel throughout the day

I developed gestational thrombocytopenia during pregnancy, which causes complications with bleeding and bruising etc. My levels quickly returned to normal about a month after birth.

My SPD hasn't improved at 4 months postpartum and j don't see it ever getting better. I'm currently waiting to see a geneticist to be tested for Ehlers Danlos. If I have it, it is something I have had since birth so preg didn't do it to me, but it has made it significantly worse and set off some bad chain reaction in my body that I may or may not ever recover from. It's really scary and depressing. Sorry not a picker upper like you hoped for, but at least you know you're not alone?! Hope you feel better soon!

I can't say I have any long term complications, but I will say it's good they are checking your thyroid. I went for a physical at a few months ago and they found that my thyroid was under active. I have been on medicine for several months now. My levels are normal and I'm feeling much better. Hang in there! I hope you get some more answers soon!

ETA I didn't have thyroid issues pre pregnancy and they can pop up post partum.

I was wondering if anybody here has had long term complications after having pre-e, or pregnancy in general. Before being pregnant my Bp always stayed in the 120/70 range, and at 34 weeks my Bp jumped up to 190/110 so by 36 weeks I was having an induction. Even after delivery my Bp has stayed 130/80. It seems possible I may be on Bp medicine for my life. Now I just made an apt. With my general physician to have my hormone levels and thyroid Checked. I feel like my body will never be right again, and that pregnancy may have damaged it for life. I just was looking to hear from other ladies that had complications that outlasted pregnancy and how awesome your doing  . I need a little picker upper
