Be sure to factor in your commute when looking at how long you are going to be away from your LO. I have a 45-60min commute so I nurse right before I leave and right when I get home plus 3 times during the workday.

@Purpledaisy: I actually think two times would be fine because of the time of day that you'll be at work. Honestly in that time frame my LO would only eat once.. but I think you should pump twice to be safe.

Thanks for all of the advice! It sounds like two times will definitely not be enough. I'm just dreading pumping at work and really wish two times would cut it!

Welcome! The general rule is to pump the same amount of times that a baby would normally feed during that time. I agree with wanting to make sure you keep your supply up and adjust to the pump so maybe start off with 4x and see how it goes and then cut back to 3x if needed.

Welcome :) I would pump 3 times if you could.

When I first went back to work, I pumped 4x while I was there. It was tough because I felt like I was barely able to get any work done. So, I dropped it to 3x, but my supply took a hit(i always had trouble making enough, so that was part of the problem). I took More Milk Plus and after a few weeks, it brought my supply back up - so much so that I could drop down to two pumping sessions at work, and still have enough.

So, I guess what I'm saying is that there will be an adjustment period as you go back. You can start with 3, see how your supply does.

I'd pump 3 times... I was feeding the kids like every 2-3 hours.... I'd pump before going to work, then maybe 7, 10, 1?

Hello! I have been lurking Hellobee ever since I first became pregnant and I finally signed up. I'm so excited to finally officially become part of this online community!

My daughter is currently 5 weeks old and I am EBF. I'm going back to work in a couple of weeks and I need advice on what my pumping schedule should be? I work 4 nights a week 6pm-2am. Should I pump two or three times a shift? I'm very paranoid about my supply dipping even though so far I've had problems with oversupply. Any advice??
