At CD36, I wouldn't start panicking yet. If it gets past CD45 I'd call your doctor. Most doctor's advise jump starting your period if you get past 60 days.

I had a 140 day cycle once and now I am 21 weeks pregnant, so it won't do any permanent damage.

I stopped BC and it took almost 2 months for AF, then the next couple of cycles were also long, at least 45 days. Then 6 months later I found out I was pregnant!

I totally understand how you feel though bc with each long cycle I got more paranoid that something was up with my hormones, etc. For me though, and maybe for you, even long cycles after BC are not necessarily a sign something is wrong.

My doctor had initially told me to give my body a year of trying to conceive naturally before introducing any intervention. In retrospect I really appreciated her conservative approach.

You're in a very normal situation but do whatever feels right to you!

Thanks all! We were actually preventing this cycle and planning to start TTC the next 1-2 cycles (like, June), but I'm thinking as soon as I get AF we will start TTC the next cycle, if they are so long.

I just hope everything is okay... I'm paranoid something is wrong like I'm not ovulating and this is going to be difficult!

I charted and went about 100 days before I called my doctor's office. I went off birth control months in advance of when we wanted to start trying, so I wasn't too concerned about waiting that long. The night before I had my appointment, I started my period. Go figure :silly:

Oh, and my next cycle after that was 45 days, which ended in a pregnancy!

I waited until I had several long cycles (and by long, I mean like 90-100 days) and I charted through them so she could see if/when I actually ovulated.

The charts really helped her figure out (along with blood tests) that I had PCOS and it was a pretty easy fix from there (easy compared to friends that had to have all sorts of ultrasounds and what not to diagnose their PCOS)

I'd keep charting, see what happens next month, and then call the doctor and take the charts with you

I think my first post-BCP cycle was around 42 days. I wasn't concerned at that point... I probably would have called around 45-50 days if it hadn't showed up.

The advice I always heard was 60 days without a BFP or AF = a call to your gyn.

@MrsADS: if it had gone any longer I think I would've but I did get my BFP eventually. I thought I knew what I was doing charting but apparently I was way off and my cycle was longer/ovulated later.

Yeah I think 45 days would be my cut off. Your OB can do a blood test to double check for pregnancy and then give you something to induce your period.

I think I waited two or three months, but I have an irregular cycle so I was expecting it to take a while. She gave me a prescription for provera.

I think if you are trying to TTC then you should call... Normally I'd probably wait it out and try to let my body do it's thing, but if you're TTC, I don't think you'd want to wait forever!

This is my first cycle off BCP (I've posted about it before). This is CD 36 for me, no AF in sight. I have taken pg tests, all negative, so I think it's just a long/wonky cycle off BC.

I'm not concerned yet, because I know some people go much longer without AF their first month off BC. Is there a time when you called your gyn for a shot to start your period? How long did you wait? Did your gyn advise you just to keep waiting? I'm just wondering if I get to, say, CD 45 with no AF, should I call... I don't know.
