Wow, thats a long time. There is no way she is nursing that long. I would probably pump and feed her the bottle, at least that way you can see how much she is getting. I would also try the paci again. That is too long to be nursing in the middle of the night!

Good luck!

Dream feeds never worked for us. Either he wouldn't actually eat much or he would still wake up to feed around the same. So we stopped doing them. However, my friend had great success with her daughter so maybe it could work.

@kml636: I wish I could get my husband to give her a bottle, but he has sleep issues and sleeps in the basement... so it's only me and her at night! It still might be faster though. It would just be a pain to get up and pump and deal with the washing, etc. - not sure if that's more disruptive to me at night or 60-90 min of nursing. I usually nurse her in bed, but it still feels kind of uncomfortable and I'm not able to sleep while nursing.

@LemonLong: Well, it could be my supply, since I've felt like it's been low lately. However, it's been getting better the last few days (which is maybe why she's down to one wake up). Maybe she's just trying to increase my supply by nursing that long, I don't know. I've tried switching her to the paci before and she was obviously frusterated by it, but she rarely takes a paci anyway, so I'm not sure what's going on... I can try that again though.

@MUI831: Usually she doesn't take one, but every now and then she will. I can try it again... I haven't tried it for a few weeks.

@yellowbird: Yeah, my LO rarely ever unlatches herself... though, if she's not hungry, she will usually let me unlatch her and she will stay asleep or fall asleep quickly thereafter.

I could try to give her a bottle after nursing her at 7pm, but my guess is that she'd still wake up in the morning.

Have any of you tried dream feeds? Did/do they help?

My LO does this when I'm putting her to bed. I unlatch her when i feel like shes done and she gets frantic but If i stick the paci in right away she goes right back to sucking it in place of my nipple and will be calm. You have to be quick about it though! 60-90 minutes sounds like it might be comfort nursing unless you have a really low supply

It could still be comfort nursing. Does she take a paci? Usually when DS does this at night I can slip in a paci when I can tell he's not actually getting any milk anymore and he's fine.

Wow!! My LO wakes up 2-3 times a night, but I cut her off at 12 minutes of nursing because she's usually asleep again and just never unlatches herself. I'd try the bottle thing, to see how much she actually eats.

60-90 mins! WOW! yeah, I couldn't handle that, I would definitely fall asleep. I would definitely try the bottle thing. Actually a friend would wake up, pump, and then when baby work up have DH give her the bottle. It went a lot faster for both of them that way.

My LO is a week shy of 5 mo old.

For the past month or so, she has been going to bed around 7:30 and waking around 2:30-3:30 for a feeding. For awhile, she was waking up at 12:30, 3, and 5 to nurse (hello 4 mo sleep regression, I guess you do really exist!), but that seems better now... so just one wake up. However, that one wakeup is LONG. She is nursing for 60-90 minutes and it's killing me! I am sooo tired! I don't think it's comfort nursing because when she pops off, she's frantic to get back on. She seems really hungry. If I try to cut her off before she's done, she starts crying. Is there anything I can do, or is it just the way it is?

I am considering maybe feeding her via bottle and then pumping, since I think that would be quicker... has anyone tried that?

Any other ideas?
