Bennett is two and we've been going through this recently, but more along the lines of 11pm-3am. He cries and cries until we go into his room, and then he's fine as long as somebody stays with him, but just....awake. It's not so terrible occasionally and on weekends but last week it was 3 times, twice in a row on week nights, we were dying! Obviously I haven't found a solution but two changes I've made are I turned the heat up in his room a little, and at bedtime we tell him very clearly that we're going to put him in his crib, he's going to go to sleep, and we're not going to come back in until the sunshine wakes up (we also recently introduced a Gro Clock).

This still happens with my 4.5 year old on occasion. Sometimes he will toss and turn in his room by himself, but usually one of us will go and sleep with him.

@Smurfette: those are so cute! I love the Sully one!! LO wasn't into Monsters, inc though, so I think he'd want Mickey Mouse! Thanks for sharing, I'll get him one for his big boy bed, it'll have a nice headboard that that could fit perfectly on!

@Applesandbananas: yep! She has a little bird we got from Target. Then my ILs got her a Minnie one. You just tip it and it comes on. She could sleep with it if she wanted. I think I have seen it at Home Depot.

@Smurfette: does your LO have a night light she can control? I've been looking for something safe for LO.

I would just leave him in his room. You can go in and make sure nothing is wrong but then say it is still nite nite time, give him a couple books if you want, and leave.

Yikes that's rough. I just ignore when he wakes up. Once he sees me its party time. Can you just not go in his room?

LO is nearing 3 and STTN most of the time but when he doesn't, he gets up at 3-4 and stays up until 6-7. It's absurd and there's nothing we've been able to do to get him back to bed sooner.

Thankfully tonight's fell on a weekend but when it's a weeknight, it's so brutal.

Did anyone go through this phase? I really think his sleep is just a mess in general. He's not napping at home, but he naps at school (some days nearly 3 hours), which always makes bedtime a nightmare.
