The blood type theory isn't true in my case, really. I am type O and rarely get bitten, even when those around me are.... however, it could be bc of my extremely limited diet, which I've heard can affect the pheromones you send out....

DD gets eaten alive! And her reaction has gotten continually worse, now they swell up to golf ball size and turn purple like a bruise and last forever. But she doesn't itch them, just calls them booboos. I wonder what her blood type is, DH is O+ but he sweats so much he rarely gets bitten.

The blood type thing isn't true for us. My daughter and I are both A+ and we get eaten ALIVE and we both swell really badly. My poor girl got a mosquito bite yesterday afternoon and basically her entire shin was swollen and red and the bite itself (the white raised part) was the size of a quarter. She was still complaining it hurt this morning.

She gets bit all the time, like me. They swell up and then itch. I went to wake her this morning and she had dried blood all over her leg. She took her band-aid off the scratched the bite, yet again.

Type O here and I was always a mosquito magnet until after my second LO was born. Luckily, we don't have a lot of mosquitos around here right now. My LOs haven't had too many bites yet.

It's a mixed bag in our house. My son gets tons of bites and they itch like crazy, just like his mom! My daughter rarely gets bitten and the bites don't really itch, just like her dad. Apparently it has to do with blood type?

<< A 2004 study published in the Journal of Medical Entomology found mosquitoes landed on people with type O blood nearly twice as often as those with type A. Those with type B blood fell in the middle of the spectrum. Typically, for 85 percent of us, our blood type is revealed through a chemical we have on our skin, which makes mosquitoes more attracted to us. >>

Do your kids get bitten by mosquitoes a lot?
