My niece was always a tiny thing. I know her mom went in to parenting with plans if having her eat organic strawberries snd kale and the like. But she just stopped gaining weight around 6 months and gained super slowly after that. She is just now around 25 at 3 I think. I remember going out to eat with them once and her daughter just started eating butter off the table. The mom started to stop her and then was like "whatever. She needs the weight!"

I'm sorry. I know that's got to be frustrating.

Awww. Sorry you're stressed out about this! We had a similar situation. She basically lost weight after 2 months, and barely gained in 3. That was about 2.5 months ago. She's only gained 1 lb in the past 2 months too. I just try to keep feeding her more, but I know that a lot of it has to do with how active she is too.

@winniebee: He's definitely working on molars. They take FOREVER! And I do think he would be small naturally. Overall I feel like eating is going well! So it's frustrating to not see actual results.

I'm sorry. I know how hard if is to have a little guy.

If it makes you feel better, T seems to gain weight rapidly and then stay the same weight for awhile. From 15-17 months he got his molars and was really sick for a week and lost a few oz between visits. But then gained 2 lbs in a month for his 18 month visit.

You are doing all that you can. Some of it also might be genetics. Generally T eats very well and has a high calorie diet but is just a small kid. Always has been and probably always will be 5th percentile for weight.

I'm sorry, weight gain is such a hard subject. I was there with DD when she was dealing with acid reflux, I think as long as he seems happy and healthy you are doing a great job! Seems like you are doing the tricks I would suggest already.

Dylan is 13 1/2 months adjusted now and has basically been 17 1/2 pounds since around Christmas-time. He's always been small (was born at 25 weeks) and reflux is an issue, but each time we go in I think he's going to be heavier and it's still not happening! We bottle weaned last month so his fluid intake (WCM fortified with WCM powder) has dropped, but he's been eating a good amount more solids.

We work so hard on this each and every day "making each bite count" butter, oils, etc. and it's just discouraging not to see a gain. The ped isn't overly concerned because she knows we are working hard and she's happy he's maintaining, not losing, but she really won't be comfortable until he's 20 pounds (kind of revised to 18 today). Gaining weight from 1-2 is really hard, so we just need a few more pounds to be in a "safer" zone in case he gets sick.

(Really this is just a vent...) Thanks.
