Both my kids went through a short phase of it. I prefer not to use bumpers, even the mesh ones, so basically they just had to learn to not do it.

They usually get their knee stuck. Is that where your LOs would get stuck?

Like they would stand at the end of the mattress and get stuck when they bend down. To get them unstuck, I would have to grab their whole body and lift up.

I had a regular crib bumper for both girls... my oldest never got her leg stuck but my youngest seemed to get her leg stuck several times. It's scary, but I think it's something that they eventually stop doing.

LO will intentionally stick an arm or leg through the slats when she's falling asleep these days. Sometimes she starts screaming a few hours later when she tries to roll and is stuck, mostly it works just fine. I don't think there's much you can do!

@kiddosc: Now that the heatwave is gone, we have gone back to using sleep sacks for naps.

We have a mesh bumper & as @jny1179: said, my toddler sticks her legs over it & through the slats now, but it was more helpful when she was less mobile. I don't worry about it now, because I think she's strong enough to get back out, but it was very concerning to me before she was a good crawler or walker.

I would just put them in sleep sacks for naps.

I use mesh bumpers with both my boys and they still would stick their legs up and over the bumper and out between the slats. Not much you can do about it. They don't do it much anymore, the LO still does once in awhile, he's 7 mos. The 18 mos old rarely does. I do find the mesh bumper helps when they are little. I know it wouldn't matter with the toddler.

@bluestriped bee: we used a breathable bumper which is thinner mesh bumper.

They both get their legs stuck in the crib posts. It usually happens when they don't wear sleep sacks (for naps).

I know a crib bumper might help.
