DS did this I think until his bottom teeth started coming in at 9 months. He is a little over two years now and hasn't done it in a long time. DD is currently doing this at 5.5 months. I'm not really worried about it since she is still able to nurse. I think it will resolve on its own.

@fuzzypeaches: my youngest did this! I have ultrasound photos of her sticking her tongue out. I have no idea what caused it or why she did it, but she had her tongue out constantly. It eventually resolved itself on its on, and never caused any breastfeeding issues. She's almost 10 months old now!

@Ra: aw, little J & B!

@fuzzypeaches: yep! I'd say around 5/6 months? I have a picture of him with the Easter bunny where he would've been around 4/5 months and that was the end of it.

@swurlygurl: That is exactly how Brady's looks. His is out like 75-80% of the time though. The doctor said that it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the tongue tie, but it could have been a factor.

Lyla did that for quite a while. It wasn't *all* the time, but it was a lot. I never really thought anything of it, and I think she stopped doing it around 10 weeks?
I never had her checked for tongue tie though, so we could be having completely different scenarios

*Picture at 6 weeks - I would say she kept her tongue out like this 50% of the time?

Mine's still baking, but my friend's daughter did this. She did have a tongue/lip tie, it was resolved and she eventually grew out of it.

@rahlyrah: DD did this for a little while too. I asked the ped and she said not to worry. Your LO is super cute! :)

ETA: she doesn't do it nearly as much now.

My LO's tongue is also always sticking out. He's about the same age as your guy. I didn't think anything of it until now. He doesn't have any trouble nursing, though...

My DS did this! He also has a lip/tongue tie (neither severe or preventing us from nursing). He just grew out of it. Maybe just more awareness/muscle control? People would comment on it in pictures. He stopped around 6 months, I think.

B's tongue is always out. Always. He can put it in his mouth but chooses not to. It is hanging out in every picture of him and people are constantly commenting on it.

I asked his pediatrician about it at his 1 month appointment and she said we would just keep an eye on it. According to her, his tongue might be a little big but she didn't see anything else wrong anatomically. She also didn't think he had a tongue tie though, but I took him to an ENT anyway and he had both a tongue and lip tie, so I am not sure how familiar she really is with the anatomy of the mouth.

I asked the ENT about it when B had his frenectomy and he said the frenectomy could resolve it. It has been a few weeks though with no change.

Has anyone else's LO had this problem? Did they grow out of it or should I seek out another ENT for a second opinion? He has been doing it since he was born.
