@agold: I think it's different for everyone, I hung on to the last ten pounds until I stopped pumping at a year, and then it all came off. I was always jealous of those who lost their weight right away with nursing!

@Adira: the only reason why losing the lbs ever slowed for me is that I'd be so pleased with my progress that I'd start getting lazy and letting rice and pasta creep back in. Anyway, awesome that you're on a role :)
@agold: ha, nightly wine is the best though!
@Nutella: HI!!!! Um, I can't answer this because I've been somewhat off the wagon with my eating habits since I had the baby--huge drawback with low carb is that you can't really just grab something quick, everything needs to be prepared, which is so much energy/time. I haven't had any supply issues or noticeable increase/decrease when I've been prudent about it for a few weeks at a time, but also this is my first boo and I have nothing to compare it against. Plus beer and oatmeal are the foods people say help with supply and that's carb city ;)

@LCTBQE: hello dear! Can I ask, how does the low carb lifestyle affect milk supply? Is it one of those things that actually assists, because you're crowding out carbs with better quality food groups? I'm thinking ahead & already wondering how to lose the next round of baby weight :silly:

@LCTBQE: maybe that explains why I lost 10 pounds after getting pregnant and I had to stop my nightly wine habit!

@babycanuck: did your doctor really think you would lose weight after you stopped nursing? I feel like I have lost weight because I am currently nursing and I am horrified at the thought of gaining it back once I stop nursing.

@LCTBQE: That's encouraging! I'm worried that my weight loss will really start to slow down as I get closer to goal, but hopefully that won't be totally the case. And YES to exercise not having much impact on my weight! I'm the same way. I've tried so many other diets and really restricting my calories and working out, and nothing has has worked the way cutting carbs has!

@Adira: pleasant surprise about low carb diet/lifestyle is it's just as effective for losing 5 pounds as it is for 50. I don't follow Atkins but when I eat under 20-30 carbs/day any extra weight drops off at around 3 pounds a week, and stays off until I get tired of cooking and order pad Thai again :)
To th OP: it is literally the only thing that has ever worked for me--exercise is great and I'm committed to it, but basically has zero effect on my weight. Avoiding sugar and junk carbs is IT.

I am not affiliated with BeachBody in any way, but signing up (and doing the 21 day fix) was pretty life changing for me. I went from not working out at all, to working out (and LOVING it) 5-6 times per week. I liked that it was a exercise program + food plan (that's easy to follow). I lost 16 inches in 21 days ... after that, I just signed up for their on-demand access ($3 per month), which allows me to stream whatever workouts I want.

I like that the workouts are at home, and 30 minutes. Then, the food part is just about meal planning ... it's not really a diet, but really teaches you portion control (my problem).

@gotkimchi: I've been doing Atkins. I bought his book Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution (https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Atkins-New-Diet-Revolution-ebook/dp/B01INXKFQE) and just started following it. You start off for two weeks following a pretty strict list of acceptable foods (mostly meat and certain veggies) and keeping under 20 net carbs a day. After those two weeks, you then decide if you want to increase your daily carb count or continue at 20. I haven't really been counting, but I suspect my net carbs are between 30-40 a day. I've lost 20 lbs in 11 weeks.

ETA: I should say, I started pretty high in weight and have a lot to lose. I'd like to lose another 20! If you only have 5-10 lbs, I suspect you wouldn't lose them quite as quickly as I've lost them.

I'm super determined to loose it all after nursing this time! I care less about the # tho.. More like I want to control the flab/looseness of my whole body...

@babycanuck: Is there 1 thing you can change in your diet? A few things that have worked for me is cutting out juice - I used to drink oj in the morning and I don't anymore. Making fruit my dessert after dinner or not having anything sweet after dinner - I used to have a bowl of cereal or a spoon (or two) of pb and chocolate chips and I changed that. Eating only 1 piece of toast or eating an English muffin instead of 2 pieces of toast in the morning.

I did 21 day fix earlier in 2016 while going through infertility treatments in order to lose some of the baby weight that I retained from #1. No lie, I lost like 5-6 pounds in 6 weeks. And, it was easy and doable because I could do it at home after DD went to bed.

I think if you're fine with your body you should stop thinking of it as an extra 5lbs and start thinking of it as your new body. Maybe it will come off, maybe it won't, but if you're comfortable and think that you eat pretty healthy and stay pretty active I wouldn't worry about it. Bodies change after babies!

The easiest and most foolproof way to lose weight (at least for me!) is counting calories so I know exactly how much I'm eating. I lost 70 pounds after I had my daughter by using My Fitness Pal. You WILL lose weight if you eat fewer calories than what your body needs to maintain its current weight.
Working out does help your overall health and definitely helps your body look better too! So that never hurts.

Hi ladies, just looking for opinions here. My doctor mentioned that the last 5-10 lbs I wanted to lose after my pregnancy would come off after I finished nursing. I stopped nursing a couple of months ago and still struggling to lose this weight.

Any suggestions?

I'm totally fine with my body, especially since I grow a lovely little boy inside of me, but I am looking to ensure I'm healthy! I think I am going to challenge myself to cut down big time on carbs, and while I don't get to a gym I do get a lot of exercise around the house/work.

Thoughts?
