@Nutella: I lost it in about 2.5 months. Maybe 2 months. I know after this baby I will have a lot of work to do again, but at least I know I can! And I felt so much better going into this pregnancy at a lower weight.

@travellingbee: that's awesome - how long did it take you to drop that amount? I got told that it's normal for your body to just hang on to those last few pounds after baby but I really hope that's not true...my jeans fit so well back the , I really don't want to have to buy a new pair! This all sounds so trivial but it has really impacted my self-image I think.

@MamaCate: that is super helpful, thank you. Great work too! I guess I'm just aware I like to go all in and don't want it all to go up in smoke when I get pregnant, but you're right in that there's no downside to being healthier!

After my second miscarriage I felt I needed to throw my focus into myself and my health. I wasn't overweight but I wasn't happy with my body either. I got a Fitbit and started walking 2-3 miles a day. I cut out nearly all carbs for breakfast and lunch only, and ate healthy fats and proteins throughout the day with a normal dinner. It wasn't easy but I lost 12 pounds I think, which for me is quite a bit since I'm petite. I wore a two piece on vacation. And felt good. I think it put me in a better frame of mind for TTC. :)

I hope this is helpful: I didn't start working out after baby #1 until about 18 months because I felt too overwhelmed before. I lost a little weight and gained toning and then got pregnant quickly (21 months after baby 1 was born) but was still a little heavier. I lost that baby to a missed m/c at 12 weeks. I was so sad and drained and my coping included a lot of chocolate and beer.

After several months of this and continuing to TTC with no luck, I got fed up with myself and decided I needed to get my health back on track. I recommitted to working out and started tracking my food intake on my fitness pal. I was able to lose 20 lbs in 5 months and got my bfp a year after my loss.

I am now nursing my two month old and am so thankful I got in shape before the pregnancy. I was able to work out through most of it and have gotten back to healthy habits and exercise more quickly. The weight isn't coming off as easily as last time postpartum but I know 'i can do it because I did it last year!

There is really no downside to healthier habits. Good luck!

Following a recent miscarriage I have just started focusing back on health and fitness, and feeling great. It has been so long since I have exercised to the point of sore muscles etc (thanks to BFing & LO of 19 months) - so I'm enjoying the endorphins after so long in 'prenatal' or 'postnatal' mode. I also want to shift some of the post-wedding/post-baby weight that has stuck around, and changing my chocolate and sugar addiction is the way I need to address that! I am probably only 7kg away from where I want to be...but I have definitely plateaued after restricting calories in the first year after LO.
I just saw old photos and started feeling really bad about it all, not to mention family saying it's ok I've put on weight because I was 'sooo skinny' then anyway. I actually felt great and full of energy!!

Anyway, my question is - did anyone have success losing weight while TTC & then keeping it off following the pregnancy?

I just want to start my next pregnancy (whenever that may be) off at the right weight...but also know that the first trimester usually gets me craving sweets and carbohydrates so don't want to undo all my good work so far!

The weight didn't just drop off after my first pregnancy, despite EBF for a year plus and restricting calories. So I guess I'm just looking for stories where weight loss has happened and stayed off...despite the hormones and craziness that accompanies TTC & pregnancy!

Thanks in advance
