We tried for months and months with not much luck: a lot of BFN and one chemical pregnancy. After several months, I cut gluten from my diet, and I was pregnant the next month. Not sure if there's a connection, but I thought I'd share.

@jmarionsmith: No, I don't think it had anything to do with my GD diagnosis. I tried a lot of different things that were supposed to decrease my chances of getting GD (ex. taking vitamin d), but it didn't work out for me. Hormones will be hormones. :(

One of my friend was going through infertility for a while I would say a year and her doctor told her that losing weight in general would help. She really wanted a baby and lost about 30 lbs before her next cycle and got pregnant in her next IF treatement, has a beautiful baby girl now. :)

I'm currently low-carbing in order to start ttc next month. I'm doing so at my RE's suggestion. I also have PCOS (not the lean kind) and am hoping a low carb diet will help me conceive quicker and have better quality eggs.

I have to say though, for me, it's a really hard diet to follow. I love my carbs and have broken down in tears a few times because I just want to eat a "normal" meal. Hopefully in the long run it will be worth it.

@yin: do you think low carbing before ttc and then starting back carbs once pregnant (because, like you, that's all I wanted when I was pregnant with my first lo) increases the likelihood of getting GD? It's a huge concern of mine right now, and has also led me to have a couple meltdowns. I don't want to avoid carbs when I'm pregnant if I don't have to but I also don't want GD!

I did a low Glycemic index diet, not just low carb necessarily, but focusing on specific types of carbs. PCOS can be caused by insulin resistance, which is why some people are benefited by metformin.

I went low carb for infertility/PCOS and I lost about 20lbs. This helped regulate my cycles and I got pregnant after about 4 'regular' cycles. Plus I felt awesome.

I have lean PCOS too, and though I haven't had any ovulation success  (I did get pregnanat on my own but had a miscarrage) changing my diet to no/low carbs, no white sugar or flour did improve my hormones vastly. And I think I will start seeing improvement soon, it's just not going to be rapidly. If you want any tips let me know.

Yes. I went low carb (technically the insulin-resistance diet) the first cycle that I also did Clomid and Met, and conceived immediately. And after cleaning up my eating early this year, which included some carb-cutting, got pg again, this time completely unexpectedly without meds.

I haven't had success with TTC, but we've been following a diet of no sugar and low carbs as part of the Whole Life Challenge and it's made me feel pretty good!

I love bread and pasta and french fries and .....well, I could go on and on. But it hasn't been that bad of a switch! Check out paleo cooking ideas b/c they have a lot of low carb ideas.

Once the challenge is over, I think we'll aim to eat this way 80% of the time, just having carbs and sweets when we go out to eat or something like that.

I don't have any experience, but having a low carb diet is great for your health. I started out the year with the goal of eating less carbs, more protein and veggies. I fell off a bit once I got pregnant since baby craved carbs like no other. Then I was diagnosed with GD at 18 weeks and have been on a very strict diet ever since. I have only gained 8 lbs, and I'm 34 weeks along. I feel much healthier and overall have more energy than before. It's a great lifestyle change, and it doesn't hurt to cut the carbs, especially with the possibility of helping your fertility.

My RE had me cut carbs and sugar during my IVF cycle. I'll also be doing it for my upcoming FET. It was so tough, but I dropped 2 pounds in a week.

Has anyone tried a low carb diet to help with infertility? I have lean PCOS and i've read that cutting back carbs can help. I looooove my carbs, but i'm considering making the change. Has anyone tried this and had any success?
