@TheSwissWifeStyle: I've always had low iron counts & it wasn't until college that they tested me for a particular blood disorder which I was found to be a carrier of. At the time, what I have was more commonly found in persons of African or Mediterranean descent, now the spectrum of individuals being diagnosed include Asians as well. My fatigue comes & goes but it was more frequent prior to dating DH (he loves steak). I found that getting my iron naturally (green leafy veggies like spinach & eating red meat) increased my iron & made me less pale & sickly. Good luck with the procedure your GP suggested!

I believe they meant iron infusion. Which is IV iron.

Totally agree w/ Bakerbee. I have low iron in my blood so it's not really something that supplements can really help. It def sucks to feel tired! For me in 2nd trimester, I'm supposed to get this burst of energy back but b/c of low iron, I just... don't, haha. My doc suggests for me to eat more iron rich food rather than taking supplements, like red meat, dark greens, etc.

No personal experience with perfusion - but I just got some great feedback on iron from the Bees and thought I would share:
1. Your prenatal probably doesn't have iron in it. Check the back!
2. Iron does not absorb as well (or at all??) when taken with calcium. It should not be taken within 2 hours of taking anything that has calcium in it - if your prenatal or other supplements have calcium in it and you take them all at the same time, you are most likely keeping the iron from absorbing.
3. Take your iron pill with orange juice!
4. Iron is an obnoxious vitamin. (this is just my thought)

I've had low iron off and on for a few years. (Reason for miscarriages?) and my GP just suggested an "iron perfusion." Does this mean a shot, or an IV? I hate shots. I'm not crazy about IVs either, but I think I'd rather sit through that.

Has anyone had experience with this?

Side note, I really don't know why I have low iron and ferritin levels. Between a pre-natal, a fertility blend (fertilAid, but switching to Fertility Support) and an Iron supplement, I would think that would be enough!
