You're probably feeling low movement because you uterus is still low. It takes a while before it moves above your belly button. But enjoy this while it lasts soon you may be getting painful kicks in the ribs

At around 24 weeks, I used to get low kicks all the time too. And I knew that those were her feet/legs so figured she was breech. At around 30 weeks, I started feeling all those kicks above my belly button so I knew she had turned and was head down. When I went in for my 32 week scan, the tech confirmed that my baby was head down.

I think it's probably just because your uterus hasn't grown that far past your belly button yet, the movement will change positions over time, as your uterus expands and your baby moves around. There is no worry about it being breech at this point, there's plenty of time for that to change and your baby still has room in there to somersault and twist and turn easily.

@Running Elley: :) Yeah, he usually kicked pretty high, but sometimes right at the belly button. All the low ones were punches. When he got bigger you could tell because the little moving bump was tiny instead of huge.

My baby was head down the whole time and very low in my pelvis, so I only felt low kicks. Eventually they moved up above the belly button, but I don't think I ever felt a kick to the ribs during my entire pregnancy.

yup..I'm 27w and only felt movement in my ribs once..and i think it was her big noggin.

my doctor said yesterday they don't even bother checking her position until 37 weeks because he could tell me and she could move 2 minutes later. so..I just take it as a blessing that I don't have little feet in my ribs yet ;)

Interesting!!! Glad to hear that it's normal :) I've been wondering if he's breech as well..

@mrskc: I did see that! I think it's VERY interesting!

Mine are the same. I don't know if you saw, but on the Oct boards someone linked a picture of where your uterus is by weeks.... http://www.gynob.com/images/fh.jpg Found it!

It makes me believe the little guy is breech and that's why I mostly feel kicks lower and always below the belly button. Sometimes I feel them off to the side as well.

All of my lo's kicks were really low the whole time but that's because she was (footling) breech.

Yes almost all of my kicks are below belly button, I"m pretty sure she is still breached (at almost 26 weeks.) Hopefully she flips head down soon!

Yup! For the most part, they're below my belly button. I've gotten a few that are on level with my belly button, and one or two that are above. My OB said that's perfectly normal, and at this point (I'm 23w2d), baby is still pretty low. Over the next few weeks they start to move up, so I'm sure we'll feel our boys in our ribcages soon :)

Does anyone else get mainly low kicks from their LO? Most of my baby kicks/movement feel like they are below my belly button. I'll get some strong kicks that are right to the sides of my belly button and I've gotten a few that are a little higher than that but it seems like the majority of them are low. Anyone else?

I'm 24w1d.
