They did one fsh level at cd3 and another at cd10. The numbers together were elevated, which he said meant that my pituitary was having to send more fsh to get my ovaries to do what they were suppose to do. Because of that, he had the nurse call me tk schedule an appointment to discuss our options. I am so afraid to hear what he has to say.

My sister has DOR and is currently 23 weeks pregnant (yay) --- they got pregnant through IVF, but she did not have issues harvesting eggs after the right combo of drugs. They had to cancel her first IVF because she only had one egg --- but on the second try I think they ended up with 7, implanted one, and froze 5!!

They had a few other issues including low sperm count/ low morphology...

@fotolori1: From what I read, the AMH and antral follicle count are much better ways of determining ovarian reserve. Did they check your FSH on CD3, or just at a random point in your cycle?

You have all made me feel so hopeful! The weird part of all of this is that I dont believe the nurse actually knew how to convey the message to me without freaking me out. OR maybe I am just jumping to panic too early. I remember in my initial blood work, my AMH was within normal range. The only thing today was that my FSH was higher than it should be indicating my pituitary is having to work harder to produce mature follicles indicating a low reserve.

She asked me to come in and see the dr, but after "googling" everything I can tonight, I have found that it isnt abnormal for someone my age to have a low ovarian reserve. First, I thought that the AMH was a more accurate way of determining the ovarian reserve and second, I read that your FSH fluctuates during you cycle, so it may not be a reliable measure.

I am so happy to hear these reassuring stories! Thank you all for sharing. Congrats to you Honeydew! I hope I have the same outcome!

I hope I can give you some hope. I'll be 38 in October. About over a year ago, I went to an RE. The first test I took was the AMH and my #'s came back about more than half less that the avg for my age group. Then I got my HSG done and I have a blocked fallopian. We found out my DH's insurance covers quite a bit of the costs of IVF, so we waited for open enrollment (April).

I called the RE office to let them know we were going to start the process and they said to call when I got AF. We'll AF was late and me being superstitious, waited a full week before taking a test. And low and behold, I'm pregnant and due in January.

So with all those tests and results not being the most optimal results, I still got pregnant on our own.

I don't have a formal diagnosis of DOR, that I know of, but I am 37, have high FSH and typically lower antral follicle count (the number of eggs they can see at your cycle day 3 ultrasound). Those are signs of possible DOR. I just did IVF in which they only retrieved 3 eggs but 2 fertilized & I got my BFP yesterday after almost 2 years TTC.

I think you should be prepared that the RE may suggest you do IVF, asap. Time should be a consideration with DOR, but you & your DH should consider all options. At the beginning of my TTC journey I wasn't sure I would ever want to try IVF but by the time we reached that as our best, last option, I was eager & ready to do it. So take whatever time you need to decide what's best for you all. Hugs and good luck!!!

I know 2 people IRL who were told the same thing around the same age. Both became pregnant with no intervention. One was the week after she went to the RE for a consult and the other had already selected an egg donor. I actually don't know anyone else who had the testing. So in my sample size of 2, 100% went on to successfully have a child! Good luck!

I don't have any experience myself, but the perfect person to talk to would be Spaniellove. Unfortunately, it appears she is on HB hiatus :( Maybe try walling her?

From what I've read, it can still happen so I hope you get some peace of mind soon.

I just got the results back from my clomid challenge test and found out that I have a low ovarian reserve... I'm 39, so I assume it could be my age. I have an appointment on Thursday morning with my Fertility Specialist, but I am kinda freaking out. Has anyone ever had this and still gotten pregnant? Any ideas what the options are? That is what I am suppose to discuss with my doctor, but waiting until Thursday is going to kill me! Can anyone offer any insight?
