@MrsCastro: It was the OB's recommendation. However, when they did previous blood work, they said everything looked fine, and didn't say anything about me having low progesterone. She just said, once I get a positive reading on a HPT again to call them immediately so that they can call in the script ASAP.

My OB put me on oral progestrone pills once I got my BFP. I took the round little pill twice a day until the end of my 1st trimester. The progesterone made me a little sluggish, so just a heads up if it has side effects on you, but so worth it for a healthy baby!

i agree with @shopaholic and @pepper - the suppositories are annoying but i'm pretty convinced they are what kept me pregnant after 2 m/c. i stayed on them for 13 weeks.

@mrscastro: my RE tested me with my first draw and he said they wanted a 15 or higher but maybe it's supposed to be a little higher when pregnant.

When I was dxed with low progesterone in September (8 months ttc), my ob gyn had me take prometrium after ovulation. I really hated the vaginal suppositories, the discharge and the irritation. In december we decided to see an RE who suggested clomid to make the whole ovulation process stronger. The next cycle I took clomid, prometrium and an iui and didn't get pregnant. I was so resigned and also sick of the prometrium that the next cycle I decided not to take it. I did take the clomid and we tried naturally. I got pregnant that cycle...and completely freaked out that I wasn't on progesterone. I ran to the RE for a test that morning and my progesterone was 37. When I asked the nurse if I should start taking it, she laughed at me. I think clomid was what my body needed and not the progesterone supplements.

I was 4 weeks pregnant when I was diagnosed with low progesterone. My levels were 9.4 i think. I started supplements immediately. I was already taking Metformin.
I know you're asking about TTC, but I think it will help a lot. The metformin helps regulate your cycles but if you're regular already I don't think it will change the length.

My doctor put me on progesterone suppositories due to a suspected luteal phase defect. I started taking them after I confirmed ovulation. That first cycle on them resulted in this pregnancy after 8 cycles of trying.

They can be messy and an annoyance, but they definitely helped me. I continued taking them until 13 weeks or so, as per my OB's instructions.

@MrsCastro: Gosh I don't even know. All the nurse said was that it's low & that they had called in a rx for it.

I think if they've already tested you for low progesterone, then your OB can start giving you supplements when you are TTC.
I had low progesterone and I am positive the supplements (however annoying) were what kept me pregnant! I also have friends who never mc'd but were tested early on and they used supplements with success as well. From what my Dr. told me, it doesn't hurt to have the extra progesterone, so I would have done anything to have the baby. Good Luck!

Tell me about your progesterone experience with your cycles & ttc. I just found out last week that I have low progesterone & the dr put me on a supplement that I take cd15-25. In january we had an early mc, prob because of the low levels. My cycles are pretty spot on at 28 days & I have never really noticed anything prior to being diagnosed. I courious if this will effect my cycles any. He also has me on metformin to help me lose weight & because of my history of diabetes.
