Based on what you have said it's probably all she needs. My son sleeps 10.5 hrs overnight (11 if lucky) with a 1.5 hr nap (if lucky). He's always been on the lower end of sleep needs. He's 24 mos.

My baby has never slept very much. So, yes- I think people have different sleep needs. I am with her all the time and do everything, everything to try to help her sleep, but the girl just is too excited about life, as I see it! :silly:

DS has low sleep needs - anywhere from 10-12 hours in a 24 hour period. He's almost 20 months. I've realized some kids just don't need a lot of sleep!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: :( Hugs. Mama, that is rough.
My son sleeps 10 hours a night (8 or 9 straight and then up a few times to pee, nurse, or complain), and takes a nap most days of 1.5 hours (11.5 hours total). A no nap day doesn't increase night sleep. Going to bed later = waking earlier. When I am at my wit's end I put him to bed earlier and he "sleeps in" to regular time (this wears off to a new, early wake up time in 2-3 days though).
Everyone has different sleep needs, and maybeshe just needs less? My son is a total disaster mess when he is tired--it is very obvious and unpleasant.

LO has only ever slept 10-11 hours max overnight and when she was younger it was 20 minute naps and now 1-2. On average she gets about 11 hours total a day since she was 1. She just does not need as much sleep as most. She can go without a nap all day and still only sleep 10 hours ish overnight.

I don't think you are way off... it says 2 year olds should get 12-14 hours a sleep a day.

Our LO either takes a 2 hour nap and sttn for 9 hours or he doesn't take a nap and sttn for 12-13 hours.

Case 1 :
1-3pm nap
11pm- 8-9am STTN

Case 2 :
7-8pm-8-9am SSTN

These are "about" numbers... sometimes he stays up till 1am and sleeps till 11am. So annoying.

I asked my pediatrician about this. He says it's fine for us since he goes to Grandma care, LO can sleep whenever he wants and since LO is in a healthy ranges for his age (height/weight) he feels LO is getting enough sleep.

But he warned us when LO starts going to school we will have to be more strict about his sleep.

Most of you know my toddler has always been a terrible sleeper. She has always had multiple night wakings and taken short naps. For two years, we've struggled.

Finally, about 10 days ago (maybe 2 weeks?), she started sleeping through the night. Yippee! However, her once hour-long nap has become 20-30 minutes long now that she STTN. She usually goes down around 8:30 and wakes up at 6:30-7:00. She almost always sleeps 10 or 10.5 hours.

She never seems tired, is never cranky or crabby, and hasn't fallen asleep in the car in months. Does this mean that a 20-30 minute nap is all that she needs?

Does anyone else have a toddler with low sleep needs? Anyone with a 24-month old that sleeps only 10.5-11 hours a day, total?
