I've had the Ricardo Beverly Hills 360 degree spinner that @bluestriped bee recommended (carry on) for about 5 years and it is wonderfully perfect.

@looch: cool site. She's very organized. We almost always check our bags (and take small carry ons like a tote or backpack), so I also don't want to spend a lot on something that's going to be thrown around.

We were at an outlet this morning and found one by Eastpack. It has a good warranty and was within the price range. I wanted to buy two but couldn't talk DH into it. He's going to try to fix the one that is falling apart.

@lamariniere: Take a look at the blog Hitha on the Go. She always has luggage recs.

I go the cheap route, I don't care to spend a lot on luggage that gets thrown around by the baggage handlers.

@lamariniere: yah, they're a little ridiculous, but I kind of nerd-out--we can't fit anything in our NYC apartment so I mostly just window shop. luckily they don't review kid/baby stuff! I guess being in Europe where people aren't obsessed with consumer bullshit is probably cool for you :)

I love the wire cutter and sweet home for product reviews. I got their recommended carry-on roller and really like it. wanted the briggs & riley that they suggest, but I'm too paranoid about bed bugs to invest that much money in my luggage.

DH and I bought new luggage last fall. We got 2 samsonite hyperspace spinner carry ons for our 2.5 Week Europe trip. Love them! Very durable and can fit a ton of stuff.

We recently upgraded to real grown-up luggage and went with Eagle Creek. They have a great warranty and are super light. Also, you have to go with a 360 roller. It'll change your travel life. :)

I highly recommend the 360 spinners. I wasn't a believer until recently but now I"m a convert and we recently invested in buying 3 carry on spinners.

It makes it possible for 1 parent to deal with 3-4 pieces of luggage alone which is helpful for us since we now travel with SO MUCH STUFF.

I got a two piece set from Costco recently. It's made out of polycarbonate so it's light. Oh, it's a spinner, too. I'm happy with it.

http://www.costco.com/Ricardo-Beverly-Hills-Black-2-Piece-Polypropylene-Spinner-Set-.product.100115426.html

I got a luggage set back in high school and I'm still using it! It was a cute black and white pattern. I think I spent $70 at Ross on a checked and a carry-on version. It's lasted me over 15 years. It's still usable but the stitching in the handle has come undone.

I've gotten luggage from Ross for my DH and the quality isn't there anymore. I really lucked out with my first set.

I swear by Tumi suitcases. They are very durable and have a great warranty. Its not cheap, but it worth the investment. They have multiple sizes, and sometimes are on discount sites (like gilt.com, etc).

I've always been a fan of Samsonite, esp when on sale. Great quality luggage can be had for really good prices. Since it's always checked, I guess it's safer to get a larger one to make sure everything always fits - though there's a weight limit too, so even if you get a larger one, you may not be able to over stuff. As for pockets, I dont usually see anything with pockets, but I use the packing cubes from ebags and they are a packing life changer.

Here's a good deal going on now for hardside luggage spinners not expandable though. I've never expanded my luggage, but spinners is a must for me now.

Hi!
My family and I have been traveling with our LOs for a while now, but every time we travel we borrow luggage from my DH's family. Sometimes the luggage is great and fits everything, other times the luggage is small and bad quality. Honestly, I think it is time that we get our own quality luggage since we travel at least twice a year by plane as a family. So I was wondering if any of you have recommendations for brands or types of luggage that you swear by. I am looking for luggage that fit the following criteria:

1. At least 21" tall since this luggage will always be a check-in and will need to fit clothes for all 4 of us
2. Can roll but does not have to be 360 degrees
3. Multiple ex/interior pockets
4. Expandable

Thanks everyone!
