We've used the Lulla doll for all sleep since we got her. About two weeks ago I switched W to 2 naps a day and at the same time stopped rocking him to sleep and he handled it like a champ - never cried, just started going to sleep on his own no problem. Except last Friday, when he cried off and on in his crib for 90 minutes with me going in and out - he didn't want to be rocked to sleep, when I'd pick him up he'd twist and push me away, but he just couldn't settle himself down. After an hour and a half I gave up and got him up to try a stroller walk and realized I'd forgotten to turn on Dolly. Obviously I can't prove causation, but....interesting. Although I'm not sure how helpful this will be. We've had it for about a week and a half, used it every night and at naps. The thing is that W is actually a pretty good sleeper - he usually wakes up once a night. I mostly got this because I want him to stay that way, B is 2.5 and sleep is his biggest issue. Also because I'm eventually going to need to train him to fall asleep not in my arms, and I'm hoping this will help. So....it hasn't make his sleeping worse? And sometimes he naps for longer than 30 minutes, which was a real problem before. My husband says the breathing creeps him out but I find it soothing. The thing I hate about it is that it shuts off after 8 hours - why?!?! Babies sleep for longer than that? So far they have really helped my newborn to self settle. She's 7 weeks and I don't have to rock her to sleep, she just settled on her own. It's not an issue having it in her crib as the doll has Velcro straps to secure it to the crib so it isn't a sids risk. Definitely helpful but not a miracle cure for all babies. My lo was 11 months at the time and still had all her naps on me during the day because she would scream in the crib. Got lulla and after having it down my top for the first day (to get my smell on it) lo has been sleeping in her crib for every sleep, I now just put her in the crib awake and walk out, she cuddles and talks to lulla until she falls asleep so it was definitely worth it to me and I already plan to buy another of we have another baby.
