I get this all the time, I'll do Tums if I catch it early enough, but usually I have to resort to Zantac. mine usually burns and makes it very uncomfortable.

@sweetooth: I had silent reflux until maybe12-14 weeks? After awhile it wasn't so silent, it was full blown acid reflux. It was an evil circle between that and MS. By 16 weeks both were gone. It was def pregnancy related for me. I took Zantac.

I hope yours goes away soon! I wish I had a magic fix for you!

@edelweiss: Thanks for the response and advice. I've never had reflux before, so this was just an odd feeling that I didn't know what to attribute it too. It started out feeling like a sore throat and now it's like I have this permanent little lump in my throat. Like I swallowed a pill and it's stuck sideways. I think if I wake up again with it tomorrow I'll give my doctor a call. I just fear them sticking something in my throat because my morning sickness is super-triggerable right now. Bleh.

@MelisMc: Oh yay, another weird pregnancy thing :) I'm glad to that's all it is though. Sorry to hear you just had to live with it. But I am glad to hear there was no reason for concern.

I had this for almost my entire first trimester...and even now it will come back for a day every now and then (I'm at 23 weeks now). I did try to take tums and even Zantac onc, but neither seemed to help. I just ended up living with it, unfortunately. My doctor was not concerned at all and said that it's just one of those weird pregnancy things.

@sweetooth: i didn't see this thread the first time around, but it does sound like reflux to me. i've had that horrible something-stuck-in-my-throat feeling, and realized it was reflux (this was not related to pregnancy, just good ol' solo reflux). when i start to feel the symptoms i take zantac/raniditine. ranitidine is a category b drug for pregnancy, but you probably want to ask your doc for ideas/advice. good luck!

@Mrs. Coral: I was just wondering if you ever figured out what the lump in your throat was? I am currently 7 weeks pregnant and I have had this lump in my throat for a little over a week. It's the worst early in the AM. And I'm trying to figure out what it could be. I was surprised to come across your thread here on HB, so I thought I'd reach out and see what came of your throat issues?

I had horrible acid reflux (to the point where I would throw up an hour or so after going to bed) through both pregnancies. Pepcid did not touch it and it did not matter if I ate bland food or not. I looked up natural remedies and one site suggested eating a red delicious apple after eating. It worked like a charm and I even stopped taking the Pepcid. I would wait until the symptoms came on and eat the apple. Sometimes right before falling asleep. I ate a lot of apples, but I was able to eat absolutely anything and manage the reflux. It can't work for everyone, but I highly recommend trying it.

Okay this may be crazy, but I need other Bees' take on this. I've had a lump in my throat for about the past week and a half. I'm 5 weeks pregnant. I've never had this lump before--it normally comes after eating or drinking, and goes away some time later. It feels like I dry-swallowed a horse pill, it got stuck going down, and like I need to wash it down with some water.

Did you experience this during pregnancy? It doesn't hurt, it's just annoying. I can definitely tough it out, but if it is acid reflux (Dr. Google calls it "silent reflux"), I feel like I should take Tums so my esophagus doesn't get damaged. I don't see the OB for another month. Thoughts?
