My whole life I've had these fatty tumors called lipomas. They're totally benign and grow in the fat under your skin and are moveable and soft (generally). They're way more common in people over 40 but I've had a handful my whole life. My first one I found around age five. Most of mine have been about the size of a pea but I had one removed from my ribcage that ended up about the size of a Twinkie before I had it removed (but this was in my 20s). It was only a problem because my underwire would sit directly on it and that made it painful.

@Ree723: I know that's crazy scary! But small cysts are common! Sometimes with kids they do recommend removing them with a small day surgery, only because some types can get infected and cause a bigger issue. (I used to work with mds that did that type of surgery)

My sister has a small slightly squishy movable round lump on her wrist. My parents had it biopsied and it is just a fatty deposit. Nothing to worry about. Hopefully you are dealing with the same/similar. Let us know what you for out!

@CObee: Thank you! That is very reassuring and I hope that's all it is for DD!

@lady grey: Thank you for the info and link - I know it is most likely nothing, but when you google and all you see is the C word, it's hard not to panic!

@BabyBoecksMom: Thank you, I hope so too!

Enlarged lymph nodes are common if you have a cold or even if your LO got a scratch on her hand/arm that got exposed to some bacteria. The doctors only worry if they are enlarged and stay that way for a long time (like weeks). Also a pea size lymph is not very big...
Could also be a small cyst as @CObee had. These are common near the next/collarbone area:
http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/sebaceous-cysts/basics/definition/con-20031599

When I was between one and two years old I had a cyst removed from my collarbone area. Don't really have any details other than the fact that it was just a random benign cyst. I'm sure there are lots of random things like that that can pop up and freak parents out but turn out to be harmless. Try not to worry too much, I'm sure your GP can reassure you tomorrow!!

I'm freaking out just a little - DD2 (17 months old) has a small lump on her chest, about an inch below her collarbone, which is the size of a small pea, somewhat softish, and moveable. It sounds like it might be a lymph node, but from my limited google research, enlarged lymph nodes in that area are not common and not really great news. I will be taking her to our GP tomorrow but I'm really trying not to freak myself out right now.

Other than that little spot, DD2 is perfectly fine. She had a bad chest infection a week or so ago (just viral, no antibiotics required) but she's been over that for a few days now. I noticed the lump on Saturday evening - wondering if there's a correlation?

Anyone ever have something like this? What did it turn out to be?
