I've had 2 confirmed chemical pregnancies, so conceiving isn't the problem. Miscarriage is. It's hard not to stress when you have unmistakable pregnancy signs (like ballooning over a cup size in a week) and faint positives every other month. We BD an average of every 36 hours, so it's not like we're stressing over that.

I'll stop short of IUI/IVF/HSG (my parents tried to adopt, and we both have a couple of adopted cousins, and we agreed that adoption was perfectly fine.) I know there's a 25-50% chance I can get (and stay) pregnant. But I'd like to increase that to the 85% chance I thought I had to start with.

The cycle before I got pregnant, I had a 6-day luteal phase! I never had it so short before but I was starting to suspect that I ovulated later than I thought (a few days later than FF indicated). All of my blood tests also showed I didn't ovulate -- although I never skipped a period. When they check your blood during the initial stages of fertility testing, they do it at a typical 28 day cycle, so I knew they were testing early as I had an average 30 day cycle. But they repeated it at a later date and my heart sank when the tests still showed low progesterone.

I was still suspecting that I ovulated late and FF was just starting to pick it up. The cycle before I was planning to go in for an HSG (ink test to see if your tubes are clear) I got my BFP!

I'd read a lot about luteal phase defects and although there's a lot of talk about it, there are some doctors that dismiss it. But as pp have said, there's ways to lengthen your cycle.

My suggestion: keep BDing and try not to stress about it. Even when you think you've already ovulated, keep at it. If I did that, maybe we would have gotten lucky a lot earlier.

I think there is a lot that can be done to lengthen your luteal phase and if you do have a progesterone defect, as RunningElley mentioned, there are ways to help resolve that.

Good luck!

I'd definitely take your charts with you! A short luteal phase and spotting that early are signs of low post-O progesterone. I would personally ask for a 7DPO bloodtest to check it during your next cycle.

I have a history of very low progesterone that contributed to 2 early pregnancy losses. During this pregnancy I've had to be on progesterone supplements along with progesterone in oil injections in order to help my natural progesterone production but some other things that I've done and would recommend are starting to take a B complex vitamin and using a topical progesterone cream. I was able to get both at my local Whole Foods. Good luck! Report back and let us know how it goes!!

@cyneswith: Sorry to hear that things aren't quite on track. No advice specifically, but I have heard that acupuncture can help to lengthen the LP. Wishing you all the best.

The clear mittelschmerz and super-obvious O signs I thought I had... Not so much. I finally used OPKs, and I didn't O until day 14, instead of day 10 like other signs indicate. Which wouldn't be a problem, except I have 25 day cycles and start spotting three days before the next one. So I have an 11 day luteal phase with spotting starting at day 8. Thus my three chemical pregnancies. (I'm SO glad my cousin-in-law recommended I start charting BEFORE I got really concerned about infertility.)

I have an appointment with an OB on Monday (9 days post-O). Anyone have any advice? What info do I need to bring with me?
