@mrs. bird: It depends. My OB knew we were TTC, but I also have a history of irregularity. After a year of TTC & missed periods, my OB pretty much said, "I can help you, but I don't specialize in this. Here's a referral." So, I saw an RE from that point out.

My first visit with the RE was lots of her talking, and me listening. I'd filled out a ton of forms that I had to take with me. They wanted to do some testing of their own, which was scheduled.

They were very thorough in their testing. All the results, combined, are what lead to my treatment options.

That said, my first test was conducted in June 2010, and I was pregnant in February 2011.

Thanks ladies! It feels good to be able to get it off my chest. Haven't told anyone IRL.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: it's with my regular ob/gyn. Do you thinks it's better to try to get in with a RE earlier or does that seem like overkill at this point. I'm kind of glad to hear there isn't much 'action' at this appointment, I feel like I'm about to let someone else into our bedroom! Remember the days when you thought two people made love & BAM! They magically make a baby. I want that=( thank you for giving me some insight into what I can expect at this coming appointment. I feel a little better now!

Thinking of you! It's always the hardest the first time or first visit for anything. I hope that it goes well!

@mrs. bird: Good luck!!

My first appointment was mostly them talking, and me listening. Are you seeing an RE, or your regular OB? I was sent for some lab work, and filled out a ton of paperwork regarding my medical history.

The second appointment is where most of the action happened.

Just got off the phone with dr office

This morning I realized I came off bc last May. I was on it to regulate my periods. I wanted the summer to get it out of my system, so when we got married in the fall we'd be good to go. We didn't really use any protection in the meantime. When perscribing my bc before, dr had told me to let her know when we were ready to TTC & she'd give me something to make me ovulate. In my fantasy we wouldn't need it, so we went about our business as usual with high hopes of a LO on the horizon. Periods have just gotten further & further apart (50+ days right now), so when I realized it had been a year since we stopped preventing it, I decided it was time to call the dr & seek her advice.

It was a nerve wracking phone call! I got an appointment a week from today, which is great. But I don't know what to expect. I'm super nervous!
